R.D. Gomez Nicaraguan Grand Reserva Corona Review

First I'd like to thank Gomez company for offering their free samples to club stogie. They sent me the Corona Grand Reserva corona and threw in a fast break also. Thank you.

I smoked the corona last night. The cigar was very well made with a cedar tube around it. The wrapper was very fuzzy and smooth. It wasn't toothy but fuzzy which was different. The cigar was definitely smooth throughout with no bite. It was actually too smooth. The whole time I smoked it, I was searching for some flavor but nothing. This cigar reminded me of a box of Evilio coronas I have in my humidor. The Evilio is a Honduran puro and it also has that same extremely muted, smooth, creamy, one-dimensional flavor that the Gomez Grand Reserva had.

Overall it was not a bad cigar, it just was a little tooo smooth and muted for my taste. I'm looking forward to the Fast Break though because I think the problem I had with the corona was I wanted it to end quicker. I think as a short, quick smoke the Grand Reserva could be good especially as a morning cigar.

I'll give it a 7.5 out 10. Great construction, great draw, just lacked in the flavor.

Re: R.D. Gomez Nicaraguan Grand Reserva Corona

Thanks for the review. My free Grand Reserva corona just arrived yesterday. All in all, the RD Gomez cigars have gotten positive reviews. I'm looking forward to smoking mine soon.

I have to go with awhitaker on this one. It was very smooth but lacked some flavor.

Re: R.D. Gomez Nicaraguan Grand Reserva Corona

Hmm... I guess I'm the only one who had a bad experience.. but based on what I've read, I'm not going to blame it on the cigar.. I was, after all, smoking it on a windy/rainy night while yelling the school fight songs and chants at the top of my lungs.. mine just seemed a little harsh... maybe I just didn't let it rest long enough in my humi... I'll have to buy another sampler from them and give em a second shot, cuz it was probably a user error.. and I agree, it was fantastic of them to offer the freebies, which is why I'll buy that sampler and give em another chance... Hopefully I enjoy my new ones more...
