Ashton ESG Review

I was able to try this yesterday (had one with my dad for Father's Day, good day!). The construction and burn were nearly perfect. The cigar was, well, awesome! I'd say it was a medium bodied cigar, maybe mild to medium. The entire time it was very smooth and creamy in character, lots of smoke, almost always had very strong, complex flavors. We agreed it was one of the best we'd had, it was an extremely enjoyable cigar.

Do I want more? Heck yes!! Will I buy more? No, I don't think I will. $20 a stick is way too much for me, and while I enjoyed it an awful lot, well, it's too rich for me now (come on lottery?!)! Overall I'd give it a solid 9/10, aside from the price of course. For those who don't mind throwing down $20 for a single cigar I'd recommend this one to try, if you can find it.

Re: Ashton ESG

I agree with you. I have smoked 2 so far and it was a decent stick but nothing really special and I woudn't spend that kind of money on a stick of this quiality. I was able to get them for $14 being the store couldnt sll them. Even at that price I won't be buying them again.

I was given one of these yesterday for Father's-to-be Day. I'll smoke it the day my child is born. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for the review.

Re: Ashton ESG

Thanks guys, I have been looking at getting one, but the $20 tag is a little much for a stick I have not heard great things about. I will stick to the VSG for now.

Very good smoke. And if you're not ready, can hit you like a ton of bricks. I still have a few aging in my humis, but the ones I've had were very good. It's been over a year, so I mught have to try one again soon.

Re: Ashton ESG

The ESG and VSG are two of the best smokes out there, IMO.

Re: Ashton ESG

This really is a pickle, I've had the chance to enjoy 2 ESG's (both were gifted) and thought they were superb, however at that price i can probably get two VSG's from the local B&M.

Re: Ashton ESG

I had the Churchill size. Don't get me wrong it wasn't like I didn't enjoy it at all, but for the price they go for there are some really great cigars at half the price. Maybe I am into the VSG's more who knows.

Robusto for me (or 21 Year Salute). Sorry, guess I forgot to mention that before!

Cool Re: Ashton ESG

Nice review. IMHO the ESG is worth every penny. And they sure can sneak up and bite ya if your not prepared. That's why they call it the Velvet Hammer!!

Re: Ashton ESG

Very jealous. I have looked at those with envy in the store, but cannot pull the trigger at 20-21 a stick. The bands alone look like they are worth about $14.

Re: Ashton ESG

I smoked the Robusto on Tuesday. Good stick and sneaky strong... but not worth the price IMO. Definitely the best Ashton I've ever had, though.

Re: Ashton ESG

I was gifted one and it was very good.

If I had paid the $20 + price tag I dont think I would have enjoyed it as much.
