La Rica Rich Maduro Review

Lit one of these up after picking it up at the local B&M while sipping an Amsterdam Blonde Ale courtesy of the new liquor store right by my house. It's the second maduro I've smoked and the first robusto if you don't count the Punch that unrolled so bear with me.

La Rica Rich Maduro (Nicaraguan)
Robusto Size
Paid $9 at B&M
Came in a nice looking brown tube.

Wrapper was nice and brown looking, little shiny, not too many veins. Smelled a little damp and chocolatey. Draw was good after cutting.

Lit kind of crooked b/c I was using a crappy bic, but fixed it right away. At first it was drawing and burning perfectly, lots of nice smoke and gunmetal colored ash. Kind of a chocolate cupcake flavor and nice smooth smoke.

2nd third the burn started going crooked and was having a little trouble keeping it lit. The flavor kind of opened up with some walnut added to the chocolate and the smoke got a little heavier.

The final third the burn was really crooked with me working way too hard to keep it straight. By this time I was feeling a little nicotine buzz and really enjoying it. Unfortunately, halfway through this part, I think there was a plugged spot, and the cigar completely went out and was impossible to draw on. I tossed it at this point and I assume it was the crazy weather we've been having here that plugged it.

Lasted about 1h15.

Pretty enjoyable cigar. I really like the maduro wrapped smokes so far and will be buying more of them for sure. The robusto size has a good burn time and cooler smoke than the smaller RGs I've been smoking. Now I just have to wait for my order to come from Mike at Mr. Bundles so I can try more sticks.

I give it a 7.5/10 b/c of the burn issues and the plug.

re: La Rica Rich Maduro Review

Never heard of this brand but it sounds like one I'd enjoy.

Thanks for the review.

re: La Rica Rich Maduro Review

Oh wow... another cigar my noob palate DIDN'T appreciate back then. I mean, maybe its not for me, but before I was really into cigars and just trying without buying, a neighbor friend who repped Oliva, AB, K. Hansotia, Drew Estate, and others(didn't know about any of these names, actually didn't think much of them) used to give these to us(with lots of everything else he repped). Now they're out and their flooded basement means ruined residual stock! Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
