5 Vegas Miami Torpeo (now I know what leather tastes like)

I've been holding onto this 5 Vegas Miami Torpedo for just the right night. I've heard some very good things about this stick, and wanted to give it the attention that it deserved. Tonight was the night to give it a go.

The cigar was impeccably constructed. Very smooth wrapper, tight stiff cap. This baby clipped like a dream. Tasted different than any other cigar I've had before, prelit.

The cigar lit up very easily as my expectations soared.

The first puff took me for a wild spin. It tasted like smoking a grape. Weird. The second puff came with the same and some leathery stuff. If I never knew what leather taste was before, well, I do now! This was picture perfect, smoking my cow belt type leather. Interesting, and pretty good.

The tastes didn't change all too much, but did kind of rotate between wood, leather, and grape. The best way I can describe it is like this...

Puff, grape, exhale, grape, woodsy, more woodsy, lots of leather on the finish.

What an interesting array of tastes that kept my interest. It's full body left me dizzy up to the line, but not over it. Just the way I'd have it.

Now, knowing this, I am sure that the 5 Vegas Miami is a very good cigar. I'm not convinced that it is for me, and I don't think it's worth the price tag. Although, I am comparing these to other cheaper cigars that I am looking to get my hands on ASAP.

I am definitely glad I tried this smoke, and would recommend anyone try the smoke and see if it's a keeper for them!

Great review. Thank you.

I think I have one of these from a Pepin sampler pack...I might just dig it out tonight to compare!

I just finished oine of these. I would give it a 7.9/10. It was peppery and dark. I would agree that I am only sightly dizzy. It was not overpowering in any way. I would only buy these on C-bid b/c CI wants way too much for them. I would smoke another one at the right price.

Nice review. These are really a favorite of mine, but as eldorboy said, only at c-bid prices. I got a box of PC's for $44 and a box of Toros at $54.

You must have not played baseball as a kid. I used to chew on the leather laces all the time while waiting for a ball in the outfield. That's where my leather reference comes in. As much as I love Pepins, this one doesn't do it for me. Good review!

I snagged a dozen of the 5 Vegas Miami Knuckles from CBID. The first one was a bit rough because I smoked it after the box spent the afternoon in the mailbox in the Arizona sun. The rest have been pretty good ranging from about 7.5 up to a 8.5. Not bad but a lot lower in the peppery flavor that I like in the DPG blues, blacks and 601 reds and blacks.

Thanks for the review. My favorite in this line is the toro......but after reading your review I will have to give the Torp another go.

Considering all the sizes in this blend, I still think it is the best 5 Vegas to date.
