Sabor Cubana Grand Torpedo Review

My first review.

Picked up a box at www.thecubanshop.com

Size=Torpedo 7x52
Wrapper= Natural maduro
Filler=Dominican and Nicaraguan
Price=$4.50

Cigar comes in cello with cedar at the bottom which is held in place with the cello.

Nicely constructed cigar with a nice hardy maduro wrapper that has a light oily sheen to it. Very firm cigar with no soft spots. This was the forth one out of the box I have smoked so far the build quality seems to be very consistent. Definitely not a dainty cigar you have to worry about falling apart.

Tip was cut with a Xicar Xi1 cutter. Just about a perfect pre-light draw that has been consistant with the other ones in the box.

As a note I draw on the cigar about every 30-45 and do a half-half exhale through the nose and mouth.

Toasted the foot a lit her up. The inital flavor is what I would call sweet tobacco. There is a light sweetness on the tounge with every draw that leaves just a bit of spice and a nice tingle. After about a 1/4" the flavor changes to a creamy cocoa flavor. The light sweetness on the draw is still present and pretty much remains through out the cigar.

About a quarter way through the inital slug fell off and a bit of anise was detected but still primarily creamy cocoa.

Half way in the creamy cocoa flavor is still the inital flavor but there is now a taste of toasted coconut. It reminds me of the coconut flavor in Lion coconut coffee. This flavor remains for the rest of the cigar.

Over all the cigar has a very nice mild to maybe medium flavor profile. Nothing ever seems to get to strong or over powering.

The burn was okay. Not bad enough that it needed touching up. This has also been consistant throughout the other smokes.

I think this is a great smoke when you want a more mild smoke to just relax and enjoy. I would put it at the top of the heap in the mild category.

This is one I want to have a box now for smoking and a box or two in storage for a couple years down the line.

Burn lasted roughly an hour and a half.

This smoke looks beautiful and sounds like it tasted great. Thanks for the review
