Noob Adoption review June 2008 (finally)
This month was a very busy month for this gorilla. I found it difficult to find time to enjoy a lot of cigars, but I have really enjoyed the few I have had. One in particular was gifted to me by MarkinCA. This wonderful little smoke was the Famous Nicaraguan 3000 robusto. I have heard a lot of noise over this cigar and I was curious to see if it could live up to the hype. For me, it did indeed prove to be a good cigar. I found that it was not very complex flavor wise, but it was consistently smooth. Unfortunately, I was unable to snap any photos this time, but I will include some with my next review.
First off, this cigar is impressive both in appearance and construction. The wrapper is a dark caramel brown color. There are no noticeable bumps, veins, or discolorations on the wrapper. I clipped off the cap with a Palio cutter and gave it a few quick pre-light draws. The draw was a little too loose for my taste, but not terrible. I detect a sweet tobacco taste that sort of lingers on the tounge. 1st Third: I toasted the foot with a triple torch lighter, purged once, and started the smoke. Immediately I am impressed by the volume of thick, aromatic white smoke that I am getting. The prominent flavors are earthy, wood, and slight leather mixed with an ever present mild almost bitter sweetness. The burn was consistent enough, although if the flavor is good I couldn't care less how it burns! The ash held on for about 3/4" and was a kind of dirty white/gray color. 2nd Third: Now I'm picking up a little bit of the spiciness that some have reported tasting. The dominant flavor is still earth and wood. The sweetness has been replaced with the spice flavor mentioned earlier. The cigar is still pouring out the white smoke that is so enjoyable to me. For whatever reason, I love a cigar that produces a good deal of aromatic smoke that I can watch rise to the sky as I smoke. Final Third and impressions: The final third was much the same as the 2nd. with the spicy earth being the dominant flavor throughout. Surprisingly, the cigar remained smooth till the nub instead of becoming hot and bitter like I expected. Overall I would give this cigar a 7 out of 10. It wasn't the best I've had, but it was probably the best I've had for the price! I think I see a bundle of these in the future for my vinotemp, if I can catch them before they are gone that is. I think that this is an excellent everyday smoke that would probably be even better with 3-6mo. age. Thanks Mark for introducing me to another great cigar experience! Jay

Nice review! I have to agree with you on the flavor profile. Earthy and woody with some spice. I'm down to my last one, I just might have to order some more.
