La Unica Cameroon Belicoso No. 3 Review

Ininitial Impressions: I must have bought this cigar at a B&M a few months ago and simply forgot about it. I was rearranging the sticks in the desktop humi and found this in the mess so I decided to smoke it. I have never had anything La Unica before, but was drawn to this because of the Cameroon wrapper. This was a 5x50 belicoso that had a very smooth wrapper with a couple of tiny spots, but no major blemishes. A moderate pre-light tobacco aroma came from this cigar.

Pictures: These are thumbnails, feel free to click to see some hi-def pictures

Smoking: This cigar had a nice draw with plenty of smoke the whole way through. The burn was even for the entire smoke as well. The cigar burned cool and slow, no overheating till I got down to the nub. The wrapper was applied well and did not crack or unravel. The ash was firm and white staying on for a while until I ashed it myself. On the whole this was a perfectly constructed smoke.

Taste: This was a smooth mild-medium-bodied smoke. At the beginning this cigar had a mild-medium "tobacco" flavor with some sweetness, the finish was mildly sweet and had some hints of spice and stayed on the palate for a moderate amount of time. At around the fourth picture the tobacco taste became a bit fuller and had some cedar-like taste in it as well. The finish also became more full and sweet and the spice disappeared. Further still I began to pick up some spiciness to the taste as well until I reached the nub. The aroma coming off this cigar was a medium "cedar"-like aroma.

Conclusion: This was a perfectly constructed, mild-medium smoke that was a little one dimensional in the taste department. Very solid taste and was smooth all the way through and it was an enjoyable smoking experience. I do not remember how much I paid for it, but I think it was in the $5-$7 range. I also do not see many online retailers carrying this cigar. In conclusion, a well constructed smoke with solid flavor for those that enjoy mild-medium bodied cigars.

Final Grade: 8.75/10, B+ on the Mr. Ed scale.

Thank you for reading

Thanks for the great photos; love the format. Sounds like a nice cameroon at a reasonable price.

One of my favorite smokes of all time. Love the #1 torps. A little sweet, nice Mediterranean spices like cinnamon, & nutmeg with a hint of pepper. A really smooth and balanced smoke. These are rolled ny Fuente and there are a couple of places that carry them online. Thanks for the review.

Interesting, did not know they were rolled by Fuente. Guess it makes sense though since Cuesta Rey is too.

Nice review, Mr. Ed. Sounds like a good smoke - always too find those hiding in the humi from time to time.
