Thumbs up Joya de Nicaragua Antano Belicoso Review

It's been a while since I've posted a review...........I think a lot of mine were lost in the purge earlier this year.

I ran out of JdN's for a while and recently got a new box of JdN Beli's right off the truck. I've smoked about 5 or so in the last week and wanted to share my experiences. I always smoke these after a good dinner.

Appearance/Construction: Uniform in color. Dark/Oily in appearance. These cigars appear to have excellent construction. They have a wonderful pre-lit aroma.

Draw: This box (so far) is extremely consistent with regard to draw.......not too tight, but not loose by any means.............JUST RIGHT!!

Flavor: This is where I'm a little biased. I've always liked these, in all sizes. IMHO they aren't terribly complex (but I still love em'). They start med to full with a little sweetness. The strength overpowers the sweetness throughout and builds to a more peppery/spicy flavor. I enjoy these all the way down to the nub.

Smokability: For a large cigar it needs relatively little correction, burns almost perfectly. Draw is consistent throughout and it burns cool to the end.

Overall, this is one of my favorite non-cuban cigars in this price range. If you're looking to kick it up a notch and try something a little stronger, give em' a whirl. These cigars are not for the faint of heart, but IIIIIIIIIIII LIKE EM'!!!!!

Mine too. I really like these cigars. You're right in that they're not very complex, just strong and tasty. One of the things I like about them though is that they don't try to be anything but what they are--and they're quite good at being that.

I'm with you guys. I always have some of these guys on hand. I myself am partial to the Gran Consuls and Robust Grandes. The machitos are also excellent!

I agree that they are not complex, just good from start to finish. I don't think they are an overpowering cigar in the strength department, but a solid smoke with a lot of flavor and usually a good buzz.

Antanos are big tough-guy smokes. You're right, there is a bit of sweetness, like cinnamon or nutmeg. I have only tried the short ones, don't know what they're called, but that was just the right size.

Also a big fan of these! Has anyone tried any of the new Reserves? $10 a stick locally, so haven't tried them yet myself.

Seen them, drooled a little, but I'm 99.9999999999999% they just aren't a $10 stick. I was wrong once before though.
