CAO Criollo Robust (with pics) Review

Tonight the reading material harkens back to the mid eighties. Back to the days when Sean Penn and Madonna were married, six foot satellite dishes, and the Soviet Union was an actual country.


The famous Steve Dallas broken back (broken by a drunk and grumpy Sean Penn) and the peak of Bill the cat storylines!


The cigar tonight is a CAO Criollo Robusto. On the prelight it had an earthy aroma. The evening was quiet and nearly wind free save for a slight occasional breeze. The heat of the day was recently gone and replaced with a mild temperature as the Sun was starting to go down.

I clipped the end with my trusty Palio and toasted the foot with my triple flame. Once it is toasty black I applied the flame and rotated. It quickly lighted and I exhaled large thick clouds of earthy flavors.

The draw was tight but loosened up less than a third of the way.

As Opus becomes a multimillionaire from the Casper Weinberger led Department of Defense the earthy flavors seemingly dazzled me senses. This is a manly cigar. I didn't detect any sweetness at all, just warm earth flavors that my pallate won't let me identify yet.

Birds flitter around and a robin lands close to me and is as transfixed as I am by the massive amounts of smoke. The relaxing evening is wonderful and enchanting, the cigar just enhances it and this is a good cigar for when you are in a mood to just chill for a while.

I've read mixed reviews on the CAO brand but I really didn't find anything mixed in this cigar. It is a good solid smoke!
