Perdomo Habano Corojo Presidente Review

The cigar: Perdomo Habano Corojo Presidente, 7x56, with 5 months of humidor time

The place: my favorite local cigar lounge

The beverage: sparkling water

Prelight: a big ol' cigar. Really nice but large band, with another at the foot. A pretty wrapper, medium brown with a dull sheen. Solid, even hefty in the hand. Firm and well filled, with no soft spots. Flat cap asking to be punched, so punch it I did. Good cold draw, verging slightly towards tight.

Burn: toasted the foot with my torch, but the big ring gauge made it a little tricky for me to light. I got it going, though, and settled in for a long smoke. The burn line was straight for the first half, then began to canoe a bit. Touched up several times. Draw was good, producing ample (but not abundant) cool rich smoke. The ash was firm at first, but was flakier through the second half. This cigar burns slowly; it lasted me a good 2hrs.

Flavor: I've smoked the toro in this line and the corojo tang was quite pronounced. It was much less pronounced on this big presidente, but still quite evident. Creamy and leathery at first, with an almost fruity tang, but smooth and mellow, with a medium body. As I progressed towards the second third, the flavor didn't change much, and I thought I'd get bored. In the last third, though, the flavor transitioned, with a sweet, creamy vanilla emergying, and then a toasted almond/amaretto sweetness. I loved it! I'm glad I didn't bail on it, because that last third made all the difference between a good cigar and a really yummy one.

Nice review. I really like the Perdomo line but I have never tried this. I will have to pick one up from my B&M to try.

Sigh, I'm in love with the Perdomo Cabinet line (SG and Cameroons), and I read on here some where the Cameroons may be in the process of being discontinued. Everyone raves on the 23's and now another Perdomo. Too little money and time....

Im hopefully doubting Perdomo will discontinue any lines. I think Nick is simply going with a visual overhaul, basically a new face for his line. I think well see some new labels and different packing on most of our old favorites. I too am a Perdomo slut.

Just my though.

Famous had a one day sale yesterday on the Perdomo Reserve line, says they're being discontinued. Still on sale, but not the $11.95/5pk offered yesterday.
