Rocky Patel Signature Series Toro Review

Cigar: RP Signature Toro 6.5x52, with 5 months in the humidor

I've smoked my way through a 5 pack of these, and now feel ready to tell you all what I think -- assuming I can figure it out myself.

Prelight: very pretty light Ecuadoran CTS wrapper, with the faintest suggestions of green. A couple of small to medium veins, a few bumps, and a cap that's a bit uneven, but overall a very attractive, well-made cigar, as you'd expect from a Rocky. Solid in the hand and firm to the touch. Very mild aroma. Excellent cold draw.

Burn: easy light, perfect burn. Really: just perfect.

Flavor: Many cigars give you a little burst of flavor at the light; this had almost none. Just mild tobacco. It took some time to warm up and develop some flavor. When it did, the flavor was light, mild, creamy, and sweet. The finish was long and pleasant, the aroma delicate and sweet.

In an earlier review, AmbientBoy found intricate subtleties of flavor (http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=152409). Jamz found one plain and mild, and another one bad. (http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=151796)

I found some notes of toast, nuttiness, perhaps a wisp of vanilla. But to tell the truth, I found it mostly just a very mild cigar. Perhaps my palate is too simple, perhaps too used to bolder cigars. Perhaps the conditions weren't right for me to coax the greatness out of this stick.

It's a very well-crafted, attractive, and quite pleasant cigar, particularly for early in the day or for those who are more appreciative of a mild cigar than I. But for me it never amounted to more than that.

Your review is pretty spot on with my opinion. I find them to be quite bland. I was pretty disappointed. The RP Connecticut is a much better mild cigar.

I just had one of these. I had to check to see if it was infused. It had a very predominant taste of sweet milk chocolate to me. Also very mild notes of creamy tobacco. Maybe the stick I had was stored with some chocolate flavored sticks before I got it.
