Winston Churchill Chequers Review

Well I picked this up a few days ago, because I was looking for a higher end cigar I have never tried, this just stuck out at me(mostly because of the name, haha). I noticed there were not many reviews on it here on CS, so I thought I would write on up.

Winston Churchill Chequers 46 x 5 5/8

Construction: Well this is a beautifully rolled cigar, its silky smooth to the touch. One minor vein runs the entire length of the cigar, but in no way ruins the look of this cigar. The cap is neatly applied, just an over all beautiful cigar. It has a double band, which are very nice.

Pre Light Draw & Smell: So I put this bad boy right under my nose, give it a good sniff, I get a sweet hay smell from it. Its unlike any smell I have gotten from any other cigar I have smoked to date. Its very appealing, to be honest for the past few days, I would just look at it, smell it because its so intoxicating. The foot has a more hay smell, not so much sweet, as compared to the wrapper. So I clip it with my Palio, give a draw and get a taste of hay, some floral and maybe some grass? The draw is perfect, has a tiny bit of pull, but its my definition of perfect.

First 1/3: So let it begin...Toasted the foot, this lite up like a dream. Took a draw, that hay, floral and grass flavor were the first thing I tasted. Ample smoke came about, thick and creamy white. Little way down, the flavor has changed a bit, I am getting this semi spice that I cant describe the flavor(maybe cinnamon?). Everything is being brought in this creamy mellow flavored profile, which is quite nice.

1/2 Way: Well the flavors are still the same, but that spice has become more dominant now. Its not a spice that you would get from lets say a Tatuaje Cabinet, its alot sweeter but the best way I can describe it, is like the sweet you get from an Anejo. Cigar is very relaxing and mellow and sweet. The ash is very sturdy(I still haven't tapped it yet), the burn is razor sharp.

Last 1/3: So here we are, nearing the end, hay and that sweet spice are still very dominant. Smoke is still very thick and ample amounts. Burn is razor sharp. The flavors are very still much that hay and sweet spice, which have remained since the 1\2 way mark. Never once has this cigar burned hot in anyway. I pretty much have nubbed this, still a very cool burning cigar.

Final Comments: All in all, this was a winner in my book. Although its not a very complex cigar, it was VERY enjoyable. The flavors paired perfectly together, that sweet spice was damn good. It was a very cool burning cigar, never once burnt hot. The draw and burn were down right perfect. Construction was top notch, very appealing to the eyes.

Now probably the question on everyones mind, is the price. I paid $13.25 for this cigar, which may seem like alot. Would I buy it again? In a heart beat. The flavors were perfect, presented in a beautiful cigar, that I throughly enjoyed. If you have the extra cash, I do very much suggest trying one. As I said, the cigar isn't complex, by any means, but the flavors cant be beat.

Final Rating: 9.5/10

Its easily the best of the line, and the only one I'll really smoke personally.
