2 for 1 Review, Taboo African Cameroon and Costa Rica Maduro

Hey,

These are the first Taboo cigars that I have tried. For anyone out there who has not tried a Taboo, I would definitely give them a try.

Taboo African Cameroon Robusto 5x50

I had this cigar this afternoon during the CS outage. It was a beautiful sunny day although a bit breezy.

The construction is first rate. Very solid feel, up there with the top cigar makers (A. Fuente, Padron, etc). The cigar was heavier than expected.

The draw throughout the cigar was not too tight not too loose. Because the cigar was so solid it produced huge volumes of smoke.

The taste was typical cameroon. I'm not one of these guys who can pull out a bunch of flavors, but it had a nutty flavor to it.

This cigar scored a 7.5 out of 10 on my scale. Other cigars that I have smoked which had the same score are Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro, DPG Cuban Classic Toro, and Padron 2000 Maduro.

Taboo Costa Rica Maduro Robusto 5X50

I had this cigar tonite. It was nice and cool out; this type of weather is ideal in my opinion for my smoking cigars.

Again, like the cammy, the construction was top notch. Nice and solid and heavier than expected. The cigar produced a solid white ash that contrasted beautifully against the dark brown wrapper.

The draw on this cigar was a bit tighter than the cammy, but this is my fault for not carrying my cutter during the smoke. If I trimmed it again, I'm sure it would have been fine.

I enjoyed the taste of this cigar more than the cammy. It did not have the typical strong cocoa or coffee flavor in my opinion, but was more on the toasty side. This was not expected, but I did enjoy it.

Given I enjoyed the flavor more, I rate this an 8 out of 10. Other cigars that I have smoked that score an 8 prior are Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra Expresso, Sancho Panza La Mancha and Fuente Fuente Opus X Belicoso XXX (this may look low, but it had lots of burn problems and the nicotine buzz was a bit too much).

As I said above, I was a Taboo skeptic because they sounded too good to be true, but as you can see, they rank well against some cigars that have a strong reputation.

I'll be updating my signature....

Excellent review of the Maduro. I am smoking one right now. My first. I love the twist and the OB Maduro Grandes as well.

Great review. I am there with you on the Costa Rican. OB Exotic is also very tasty. Twists are god too. And the SFBC and the SFO. So many to choose from.
