Here it is, the review that no one's been waiting for.
It was a relatively quiet night here in the dorms, so after a relaxing evening, I decided to light up one of these babies. They had been resting in my humidor for about a year, and I was curious to see how they were, especially since I haven't seen any reviews of the yellow band Dominican Cohibas yet.
The initial inspection was average. While the construction looked relatively solid, the wrapper looked a little rough. Pre-light draw seemed pretty good, so I fired it up. It started out somewhat mild, with a woody flavor with some coffee mixed in. About an inch or two in, it started to get a little spicer, with a little earthier taste. In about another inch or two, it started burning a little hotter and the flavor got a little harsher - common in many cigars, but it seemed to have started a little earlier. Throughout the cigar, smoke production seemed pretty good, burn was pretty consistent, and I got a little over an inch in light grey ash at the beginning, then every 3/4 or so after.
One last thing, for some reason I didn't take off the band before I lit it, which I usually do. About halfway through the cigar, I decided to remove it, which proved harder than usual. I believe the band was actually glued onto the cigar itself, so when I removed the band, it tore the wrapper, contributing to some unraveling.
All in all, a decent cheap cigar. Maybe I think so because I haven't been spoiled on ISOMs yet, but hopefully that's about to change.
