Nat Sherman torpedo Review

Again a cigar that was gifted to me, this time by an American friend who send me a bunch of cigars unavailable to the Dutch market so I could try them. Some of then are hits (like the Casa Fuente, Ashton San Cristobal, Joya de Nicaragua antano machito) and some of them are not like this 165 mm long ring 52 torpedo made in the Dominican republic. Not that this is a bad cigar, but this is no good cigar either, just mediocre and not a keeper in my book.

The wrapper contains a lot of veins and is light of color. The aroma is deep and smells sweet, while the cigar feels soft like there isn’t enough tobacco in it. The predraw is fine and leaves a sweet flavor on the palate. Smoke is full and thick with a dark firm ash.

The flavor of the cigar is tobacco with some coffee and something sour. There isn’t much going on flavorwise, the sour flavor stays consistent. Halfway the strength grows a little and soon a little bitter flavor comes around the corner. Not the turning point bitter though.

Would I buy this cigar again? No

Re: Nat Sherman torpedo

Sorry to hear the Nat Sherman wasn't your cuppa. I have had good luck with them, particularly with the milder versions for morning smoking. I hope you have better results if you try one again. Ragardless, thanks for the review.

Re: Nat Sherman torpedo

I don't like all the Nat Shermans... but I do like the Nat Sherman Suave.

Good morning smoke with a cup of coffee.

Thanks for the review.

I've enjoyed the Sherman Omerta, which is a dark Nicaraguan cigar, so different than this one. It's one of the stronger Shermans, and I'd recommend it.

Re: Nat Sherman torpedo

I spent some time smoking the Gotham line. I really enjoyed them- solid if unspectacular, easy burn. I have heard of the Omerta but never tried it. Best to go directly through NS or is there a better way?

Re: Nat Sherman torpedo

I personally like the Nat Sherman Metropolitan line. I think they're a good mild smoke

I've picked them up at auction on JR for excellent prices -- around $20-ish for a box of 6.
