Agree with other LLGs on this cigar. If y'all like this one try, the HDM DM in the same size. I find it as oily and great as the Punch.

flipflop,

I didn't know the HDM had any double maduros! I have only seen the maduro in the regular line, except for the Royal selection line and the Excalibur Prensado Oscuro.

rjs....

I've bought the HDM dm (robusto) at both my local shop and from Famous Smoke Shop. Go to
http://www.cigarworld.com
and see they do dm's in several sizes. Click on "size chart" once you get into the HDM section.

I'm told that the HdM and Punch DM rothchilds are one and the same. They are both made by villazon and apparently there is no taste difference. I've never compared them myself so I can't vouge that it's true...

big_bish,

True, the HDM and Punch Double Maduros are both made by Villazon, but they are definitely not the same cigar. I bought a box of the HDM DM once because the vendor was out of the Punchs. They look great, but don't have near the spice and body that the Punch has in my opinion. I returned the HDMs after smoking two.

RE: Punch Rothschild Double Maduro

I've been remiss in writing a review (as simplistic as it may be) about this cigar so I'm catching up tonight.

I received this one from the generous rjs. The construction was very good. It had a nice firm feel with no soft spots or lumps. The wrapper was very dark with a rough texture and slightly oily. The cap was well applied and the foot was cut slightly crooked. The ash was firm with a medium grey color. The draw was a little loose which caused the volume of smoke to be a little on the thin side. The flavor had a distinct Chocolate/Coffee flavor and a medium body. A very nice quick and inexpensive smoke. This is now one of my "goto" smokes. Thanks again Rob.

big_bish,

you were totally right on this one cigar. The Punch Rotschild MM has became one of my favourites. I always have some in the humidor, and as you said the only problem is make them age. I should try buying 5 boxes at a time... he he!

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Re: Punch Rothschild Double Maduro

3.5 years since the last post but didn't want to start a new thread.

What's the diff between the maduro and dbl maduro? I smoked the Maduro a few weeks back, enjoyed it but I've heard good things about the Mad/mad and also saw it's more pricey.

Picked one up anyways, sitting in my Dor.

Re: Punch Rothschild Double Maduro

I have recently tried this cigar and I agree with what most are saying. This is a good everyday cigar. It is now one of the first ones that I grab as an everyday smoke. I like them in all the wrapper varieties; natural, maduro and oscuro.

Good smoke and not hard on the wallet.

Good Review!

Re: Punch Rothschild Double Maduro

I had another one last night after letting it sit for a longer period. Time does make a difference with this cigar. A few months back it was disgusting and tasted like plants.

Left me happy and impressed how time can really affect certain cigars. At ~$2 a stick, it's hard to beat this smoke if you have 30 minutes to burn.
