Root - Natural by Drew Estate Review
I received a Root - Natural by Drew Estate in a swap recently, and smoked the cigar today. Prior to smoking the cigar I was unaware of the reviews, and had no thoughts of what to expect. I only knew that it was not a "flavored" cigar like the Acids.
The cigar is 5" x 55rg, impeccably constructed, had a very nice draw, and a shaggy foot. I like the shaggy foot. The cigar lit easily, with light sweet notes. My first thought was of strawberry, which caused me a bit of concern. But after the first half inch or so the flavor changed to sweet coffee, and then became a bit "deeper" as the cigar progressed. Mocha cappucino, as the reviews describe, never entered my mind, but in hindsight I can see the resemblence. The burn was razor sharp. I smoked it to the last inch. Overall the cigar was somewhat monochromatic in flavor, but was a nice cigar nonetheless. I probably wouldn't go out and buy these, but if I got some in a swap I wouldn't be disappointed.

Re: Root - Natural by Drew Estate
I believe they add a decent portion of Perique (a tobacco grown and cured in St. James Parish, Louisiana) which adds the strong sweet aromatic quality to the cigars. It does indeed lend a somewhat sweeter pipe-like flavor to the cigar.
Not at all a terrible stick, even for a Drew Estate cigar (I'm not a fan of infused, flavored, or sweetened cigars normally). They are certainly not disgustingly overpowering like some sweeter cigars. I'd smoke one occasionally if gifted, but I doubt I'd buy one.

Re: Root - Natural by Drew Estate
I just bought a box of Root Deluxe (6x50, but probably the same blend as the regular Root). I like these cigars quite a bit. I can taste the mocha, but other than that, I can't make out any other distinct flavors, other than "good."

Maybe it's just me but with this cigar I get a really strong sandalwood flavor. Anyone else? Mine are a few yrs old.. from the white boxes.

Re: Root - Natural by Drew Estate
I like one of these once in a while. Decent flavor - very nice aroma. A good cigar, after dessert, with a refill of coffee.
