Flor de A. Allones Favorita Review

I mentioned in an ealier thread that I wanted to try this brand and flipflop was kind enough to send me one to try.

This cigar is well constructed, very firm, and actually feels kind of heavy for its size. The wrapper is sort of rustic looking, fairly dark, with a few pronounced veins. The cap on the Favorita is pretty small so I had to be careful when cutting it. The draw was perfect and this puppy lit easily. The cigar burned well with a nice firm white ash giving off quite a bit of smoke.

The Flor de A. Allones line is touted as a powerful cigar but after the first inch I was wondering what they were talking about. Well, about a quarter of an inch later I found out. The cigar has a nice chocolate flavor and builds into a spicer powerhouse. They aren't as strong as a VSG, but compared to most cigars, it has a good kick. There was two other distict flavors in this cigar, but I can't figure out how to describe them.

Overall I enjoyed the hell out of this cigar. It is definatly going from my "To Try" list to my "To Buy" list. They retail for $60 a box at JR's, which is a steal in my opinion.

Overall Grade: B+ (a solid B+ I might add)

The only thing holding this cigar from getting an A- is the looks. It isn't exactly humidor candy, not ugly by an means, just not pretty.

What is the size of this smoke? I'm not familiar with it.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Oct-23-01 AT 125 PM (CDT)]The cigar is 46 x 5 5/8. The wrapper is Ecuadorian Sumatra with a Connecticut binder and Honduran/Nicaraguan filler. These are a produce of Villazon, originally created for Alfred Dunhill Ltd.

The FDAA Favorita is now in at JR as of today. I just got a box and it includes a box of free #5's with every box order. Great cigar
