Fuente torp Review

This was one fuente that might have been worth the money spent. I bought this cigar a couple of years ago before i even came to college. I figured tonight was as good as any to light it up. I threw on my favorite sweater to fight the brisk air and enjoy the gorgous evening. The wrapper on this cigar was nice, a few viens, but still very smooth with a little oil for sheen. The cigar had a nice feel to it, packed full, definately not soft! After i clipped the end, i tried the draw and it was a bit loose for my likes, but not too bad. I toasted the foot and immediately smelled coffee. The first few draws needed no time to settle down, nice draws of coffee right off the bat. The ash held on a little over an inch untill i knocked it off. About half way down, the flavor changed to straight tobacco, with spice and a little sweetness on the end. The last bit the power came on and the flavor changed and put alot of spice into the mix. I enjoyed this smoke right down to the band..it was marvelous!

What fuente was it? Opus? Don Carlos? Anejo? PS I forgot to send you the bday package, I feel like such a heel. I will make it up to you I promise.

Deja Vu... I pulled out a DC #2 last night that I had received in a trade. A VERY nice smoke. I did not want it to end.

It was just a Fuente Grand Reserva, i dont think they have made a Torp in a long time....

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-01 AT 02:05 PM (CDT)]I recently scored five Fuente Cuban Belicosos ASG (torp). An excellent smoke but very, very hard to come by. If you see any of these, get all you can afford.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a "Fuente Cuban Belicosos ASG (torp)"?

It's not found very often. Stick is 5.75x52 and has the ASG (Aged Sun Grown) wrapper. My local tobacconist gets a box maybe once/twice a year.

I wonder if this torpedo is similar to the Montesino pyramid with the sun grown wrapper?

As you probably know, Fuente makes the Montesino brand. According to the Fuente rep out here, the Montesino Pyramid wrapper is the same as the Ashton VSG wrapper. The Pyramid is the only cigar in the Montesino line offered with the VSG wrapper. I do prefer the Pyramid over the non VSG Montesino Belicosos.

Anyway, just a follow up thought.
