AF sungrown 8-5-8 Review

I was gifted this smoke by a great BOTL along with some Anejos when he'd read that I could't find any anejos in my neck of the woods.... I had an anejo as soon as they came in and that was one AWESOME cigar, but alas, this review is for the sungrown 8-5-8 that I also can't find anywhere around me..

To start, I pulled it out of the humi, and just stared at it, as I took it out of the cello, then unwrapped it from the cedar.. This smoke was just about perfect in every way, a little bit oily, but not TOO oily. I walked out onto the deck with Trader Joe's Winter fest Brew in hand, and my laptop (the only true way to write a review worthy of stogie chat). I broke out the Nibo triple flame torch lighter, with built in punch that the wife gave me for christmas, and punched the cap, then lit her up. AWESOME taste, aroma and billowing smoke abound from this cigar. I can't really describe the taste well, but its got a sort of semi sweet chocolate/coffee/tobacco taste that is simply awesome. I suggest everyone try this cigar at least 3 times.. Ive got 2 more times to go now Cheesy Im halfway through it now, and Im enjoying this cigar as much as I enjoyed the anejo...

Picked up the only one left in the box a few weeks ago. I want to try it but then I won't have one anymore. A delima for sure!

These are really good. I wouldn't say they were like an opus, but just as good in a different way.

FYI - I have a couple of these Im looking to trade. See the "Cigar Pass, Trades & Bombs Forum".

They haven't in the past but they have the black ribbon on the foot to signify sun-grown. To my knowledge they haven't been made for at least 2 years and my understanding at the time was that Fuente was not going to release them again. Does anyone have other information as they were always one of my favorites. I think I have 2 left in a humidor with about 3 years age on them waiting for a special occasion.

Cheapercigars.com had them not too long ago, and a couple of other places that escape my mind right now.

I bought some before Christmas from my B & M from a box he opened in front of me. I had to ask him if he had them and he produced the unopened box. I didn't get the impression that they had been sitting for 2 years though.

They are currently wrapped in cedar and they are still available. They guy at my B&M told me this year that they were discontinued also. Yet, I am still buying them.
