Punch Chateau L EMS & 2 Patels to think on
Greetings, guerrillas.
Had a very interesting couple of smokes this weekend that I wanted to share mainly because they always exceed expectation. The first is the Punch Chateau L EMS. This is often the cigar I go to when I want to sit back and watch TV, drink beer, relax. In short, one of those cigars for a good day. Not a great day. If you're anything like me, the cigar selection around the house consists of three types of cigars: 1. your premium stuff, or limited run which is either cost-prohibitive to smoke more than once a week or so limited that those last two in the humidor may be the only ones you see again; 2. your lawn work cigars; and 3. those in-between. The Chateau fits into category 3, but I am convinced after last night that I have underrated the cigar for some time. There is a bit of spice, but not too much. It is perfect for a long after-dinner cigar and it helps that it always reminds me of what Groucho was smoking. The hobgoblin of General products is always consistency, yet every Punch Chateau I've smoked has been nearly identical. It doesn't have anything overly distinctive about it, although it certainly isn't bland. I would tag this cigar a "Best Deal" especially when one considers its size. On to the Rocky Patel Edges I love so much. I had an odd occurrence over the weekend. Saturday night I had an Edge Missile Corojo that had a chemical aftertaste. It was still an alright cigar, but not one I'd go out and get more of. Less than 16 hours later I had an Edge Toro Corojo that was among the best I've had in years. (Consider my first 5 cigars of the year were a PG, 2 Graycliffs, AVO XO and AVO Signature.) Seems to be the way with this one. I suppose one can forgive this. The reward of a perfect cigar for $5.50 is well worth the gamble of a $5 cigar that sometimes lowers itself to just being okay. A tip with these: the nose has it! The Edge varies from batch to batch, but every single time the wrapper's scent is a dead giveaway as to whether you'll get a bark or bliss! Slainte, primes. |

The Punch is a good go to cigar that will not let you down ,I like the Punch Gran Puro a very good all day cigar . Now as to the aftertaste of that Edge I have had the same problem
and have put a box of them in a humidor and let them set 2 month then I smoked a few more. It was a bit better so back to the humidor they went, another 2 month went by and it is now a much better cigar. I am not sure why these cigars have this problem ,but a friend and I were at a local cigar store and he pick up a few and they were a grate smokes. What can I say![]()
