Alliados Green Wrapper Review

Ok ... considering that the only cuban part of this cigar is the wrapper itself if i´m not mistaken. I can see why this is rated as one of the best NC´s on the market.

Tonight I looked at one of these babies with a green wrapper and thought: "heck! why not?"

Here goes.
The 1st third started off smooth but almost immediately turned tangy. Don´t ask what the taste resembled... all I can say is : UNIQUE.
Burn was a little uneven however the overall construction of the cigar wasn´t too shabby.

After rectifying the burn a bit, I was well on my way to the second half when I was engulfed by a variety of leathery sweet flavours and full bodied smoke.
By this time, after alot of shake, she finally ashed on me.

The sweetnes persisted with very little variation. I have to admit this was my favourite part of the cigar. By the 3rd she started getting a little peppery but still a sweet nonetheless. I stopped and sipped on a bit of port(by now the enthusiasm got me puffing in a frenzy)

I pulled off the band and carried on exploring the character that this cigar had to offer. Slowly but surely she started to calm down and get a little milder. I lay her down with a about an inch to go.

Leaving me with a bit of a buzz, I reflected on past moments I shared with friends and flipped through old photos.

All in all I can give this cigar a 7 out of 10. An ideal and highly interesting cigar to enjoy alone after a medium to light meal.

Not familiar with Alliados? Is it possible it was a "Cuban Aliados". I believe they are Honduran/Dominican wrappered cigars...And you say it was rated as one of the best NC's on the market? I've never even heard of them, do you have any more info to share?

Thanks for the review, sounds like you really enjoyed it!

Yep Cuba Aliados, however, from what I have read... they´re all honduran.
and I have to correct myself... NO part of this cigar is cuban. Cuba Aliados refers to rolando reyes sr title given to the cigar itself as UNITED CUBA.

My humble apologies

note: confirmed with rudmans pocket guide and here...

Re: Alliados Green Wrapper

Bob & I smoked the Candela Cuban Aliados (robusto) on the show last week. Med bodied and not bad, especially for around $2/stick from CI.
