R's CSD - Fonseca 5-50 Review

Number 2 - Fonseca 5-50
Purchased from local B&M, roughly $5

Appearance and Presentation of Cigar: Excellent
Wrapper color and Packaging: Natural color, Excellent Packaging
Lighting and Burning Properties: Easy toast, nice burn
Even initial light, even burn, burn fast or slow: Even initial light, even burn, medium burn
Draw: Excellent
Taste: OK

First Third
Initial few draws were a bit harsh than it mellowed out, slight leathery taste, and than ended with a slightly earthly taste.

Second Third
Still about the same as the first third, but the leathery and earthy taste increased. I did taste a bit of pepper and some sweetness but not much.

Last Third
This thing started to burn hot, and the flavor all but disappeared, just hot smoke. I tried to go a bit more, but my fingers, even at the image above, began to get quite hot.

Final Thoughts
The cigar looked great, a nearly golden look to it, but unfortunately, the flavor was not so golden. While it was not a bad cigar, it wasn’t really anything great or complex. I don’t think I’d purchase another one.

Thanks for the review.... I really liked this cigar when I was first starting out. Now, not so much.
