Talking Rocky Patel Sun grown Review

Wanted to try this stick on a recommendation from a avid Cigar Buff.On the way home from work I stopped by my local Shop and picked up a 6x50 Torpedo.Upon lighting the wrapper it blew out on me.Not a good start? FinallyI got through the wrapper incident and proceeded to try to enjoy the smoke. The first half the stick was nothing to brag about, until I started to draw down to the middle.A Earthy,Leathery taste started to form, with a Sweet Peppery taste, which tingles your Tongue and seems to stay a the top of your Palate for quite some time.A nice Black Gray Ash,along with a even Draw and solid Construction, this Cigar was turning into a treat. I'm glad I tried this Stick and will recommend it for anyone's Humidor.

Nice review! I've got one of the GIANTS (I believe it is just called a size "A") sitting in my humi, thanks to Bluenote destroying me in the newbie sampler trade... Been resting for about 3 months now, since I joined CS... might have to fire it up some night after I've had a huge meal, and have about 3 or 4 or 10 hours to smoke..

Hmm,

Glad to hear it turned out ok in the end. I''ve had the RP90 and RP92 and were not too impressed. Well, the RP90 robusto was a decent smoke. The Sungrown didn't appeal to me at all. Just didn't seem all that flavorful or as strong as folks say. Oh well.

The seconds are pretty cheap ($2.50 a stick) at Famous.

RP Sungrown

What is - The cigar that got me hooked

There are a number of cigars I prefer, including The Edge, but it is the cigar I have to thank for reeling me in. I had a couple good one's before the Sungrown, but when I was sitting on the porch with that cigar it hit me like a body check from Icehog and I knew it a was the start of things to come.

Re: Rocky Patel Sun grown

I was a bit disappointed with these cigars. I found them no where near full bodied. I'd put them a lot closer to mild. I still like the RP Vintage series best of all. They're certainly not bad, just not as good as some others, like H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon.

The Hansotia Signature 101 I smoked this afternoon was much more to my liking.

Re: Rocky Patel Sun grown

Ive found that this is one that needs to sit in the humi for a bit to get the full flavor out of it. I smoked a young one, and enjoyed it, but then got one that had sit in a humi for a while, and it was 100 times better. I love most of RP's stuff, and the SG is no exception.

Re: Rocky Patel Sun grown

I had one for the first time last night. It was a good smoke with a decent draw and taste.

I'll definitely pick more of these and would recommend to anyone looking for a mild/medium bodied smoke.

Re: Rocky Patel Sun grown

THANK YOU!!!

I've been watching and waiting for more current impressions of the sun-growns, and hesitating on my purchase decisions regarding sun-growns in ANY line.

I'll be honest... I've been in the dark about this! I've not tasted beyond the Conn Shades, Maduros, Cameroons, etc. (though I do have a few sun-growns aging in a humi)

Here's the QUESTION:

How do the sun-growns differ from other cigars??

A stupid question, perhaps... But one to which I would seek an intelligent answer from my peers.

(Don't blame me if I can't reach that Banana! You're the one's who put it there!!!)

Re: Rocky Patel Sun grown

I've only smoked one and I thought it was a great smoke, really enjoyed it.think I'll pick up a bundle of the 2nd's, I love the Edge X outs and can't tell any differance from the firsts as far as taste, construction and burn. Anyone smoke the SG 2nd's have a opinion on them ? Thanks
