Habana 2000 Montecristo Magnum Review

[font size="1" color="#FF0000"]LAST EDITED ON Apr-21-01 AT 096 PM (CDT)[/font][p]Being a Montecristo lover, this one was a huge disappointment, and it pains me to say that about Monte. But, here goes the review..

Construction: 9.0
This was definately eye candy. The cigar's construction was beautiful sitting in that glass tube..It was gorgeous. It was firm, but not hard, nice and pliable in the fingers and free of large veins. The wrapper was a beautiful dark brown, not Maduro, but dark and had a nice sheen.

Burn: 6.0
I should have seen the handwriting on the wall when I couldn't get it to light evenly. I tried and tried, but I couldn't get it to keep an even burn. One side would creep way down and the other side wouldn't stay lit. Eventually, after I got it 3/4 smoked, the cigar finally evened itself out, but still never burned quite like the "real" Monte's do. The draw was a little tough, not hard, but harder than usual for a Montecristo. After lighting, the ash was all over the place. It was loose and WAY uneven.

Flavor: 5.5
The flavor started out much like, believe it or not, a stale cigar. It never really started off with a bang like most Monte's do. It had a harsh "smoky" type flavor, a flavor I wouldn't even give a ranking of mild, medium or full body. It was a flat type taste. It had a hint of nut to it, but it was overpowered by the stale smoky taste. It also burned very hot about 1/4 the way down.

Overall: 5.0
This cigar was not what it's name holds. I will give it another try again, but I was not at all impressed with the H2000 line of Montecristo. As of now, stick to the regular line of DR Montes and ISOM Monte's, they will not dissappoint you.

I remember now... IT WAS STALE. I bought two taj mahals one is aging... maybe it will taste better in a year... The other was my new years eve smoke... boy was I angry. I thought it would last all night, but i threw it out half way through because it was so bad
