Noob Adoption Reviews (Oct. 08)

This month Reggie sent me:

DPG Blue
Perdomo Corojo Robusto
Nub Connecticut 354
Los Blancos Criollo Robusto
and a Partagas Serie D #4

I smoked the DPG Blue first. It opens with spicy cedary flavors. very stong flavors, yet balanced and smooth. Very enjoyable. More peppery in the middle, yet still smooth and not harsh at all. Got a little bit of a buzz from it. It went out with about an inch and a half left.

Overall a very good cigar. Strong flavors yet smooth and not harsh. Strong in the nicotine department as well. Overall a 9/10. Very good, will be looking to try some other Pepins too.

I like DPGs. I have not had one of those blues yet. I am glad you liked it. Looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

Re: Noob Adoption Reviews (Oct. 08)

Next up was the Perdomo Corojo Robusto.

Started with woody flavors and a spicy kick. This thing gave out lots and lots of smoke. More into it I got a slight taste of chocolate in the back, but also got a little harsh. Unfortunately at this part the wrapper started to crack. As I was smoking it I could hear it slowly cracking. The burn started to get very uneven and the taste got harsh. I had to put it down a little more than halfway through.

I'd have to give this a 5/10. Started with promise, but the construction problems forced me to put it down. I would try it again however, because I probably just got a bad stick.

Tonights smoke was the Los Blancos Criollo Robusto

Starts with a nutty flavor with a bit of spice in the back. Kind of thin draw. Midway the draw improved and the spice disapeared. Hust a smooth nutty flavor. In the final third there was still a nutty taste, and a bit of a raisin flavor. Very interesting. Went out a few times near the end so I let it go.

A pretty good mild-medium strength cigar. Overall an 8/10.

Sorry about the Perdomo. I would give these a 7.

The Los Blancos was about the same.

I just tend to rate a bit lower though. Does that make me a snob?

Re: Noob Adoption Reviews (Oct. 08)

Today I smoked the last smoke of the month, a Nub Connecticut 354.

Starts with a nutty and cracker like flavor. Lots of smoke. A hint of coffee flavors came through as well. Continued with most of the same cracker and nutty flavors. An ok burn, kinda uneven but no touch ups needed. Good draw throughout.

Overall I would give this an 8.5/10. Not amazing, but a pretty good smoke. I enjoyed the cigars flavor, and there were no severe construction problems. I've enjoyed most of the Nubs I have tried, I don't think they quite live up to the hype, but are still quality smokes.

That was your last Nub from me. I wanted to make sure you tried the whole line of flavors. Glad you enjoyed it.

I loved the blues, not as much as the centurion by pepin but a solid full flavored stick.

Mighta been a bad one I loved this stick when I smoked it and would probably give it a 7.5. Great flavors and a razor sharp burn on mine. I would put this one on the "to try again" list if I were you.

Thanks for the reviews. Pepin Blue is one of my favorites.
