La Gloria Cubana Wavel Maduro Review

I smoked this cigar today on the walk to class.

The overall appearence of the cigar was decent, nothing spectacular. It's wrapper was pretty oily but the appearence was flawed by a large vein running the length of the cigar.

The cigar has supperior construction that I've come to expect from LGC with a nice even burn and a firm, medium grey ash.

That flavor was nothing to sneeze at. A nice medium strength smoke with hints of spice and a nice woody/cedar core. Occasionally the cigar would grace me with an almost sweet taste.

Overall score: B+

I recieved this cigar as a gift from odell1027 along with a pair of Padron 2000's.

It's hard for me to compare these cigars to each other. The Padron, made with 100% Nic. tobacco, presents a totally different but equally great flavor that the LGC Wavell, which comes from USA/Dom/Nic.

If I was forced to choose though, I'd have to go with the LGC Wavel. Its a slightly larger smoke that burns a bit cooler. If I was comparing the Wavell to a Padron 3000 it could be a different story but that'll come later.

I've been smoking the LGS Wavell Maduro for years and have always found it to be an excellent smoke (particularly for the money). The construction is consistant as is the quality and taste. As you said, it's a medium bodied smoke with some good spiciness and some nice creamy undertones. MY almost everday smoke however is the LGC Corona Gorda in natural. There's something about that cigar that just makes it a nice pleasurable smoke everytime I light one up.

I believe that LGC ranks right up there with Padron in terms of consistancy and flavor. Both are truely great brands that never seem to disappoint.
