Padron 2000 Maduro Review

Previously on Club Stogie, odell1027 complained about a bitter taste in his box of Padron 2000 Maduro's. He was kind enough to send some to me for a second opinion on these cigars. After a few weeks of resting in my humidor, I finally got around to smoking one tonight.

For reference, a few weeks ago I smoked 2 padron 2000's. One that I recieved in my box pass, and one that I bought at the local tobacconist.

Even after a few weeks rest, the Padron from odell1027 still had a bitterness that wasn't apparent in the other two. On each draw, there was an immediate bitter taste, but it seem to disipate quickly leaving the regular Padron taste in my mouth. It was suprising to me that it didn't linger at all. After a few puffs though, it becomes annoying and I threw the smoke out at the halfway point.

The bitter taste is baffling to me. With most smokes I would suggest aging the cigars more, but Padrons are generally better straight out of the box, without any age. Now I'm not sure what to tell you. It seems to me that you've got the only bad batch of Padrons that I've ever heard of.

Sorry I can't help on suggestion. All that I can do is verify that the bitter taste is definatly there.

I guess I was unlucky and got a bad batch of the 2000 maduros. I will also look forward to your review of the LGC Wavel maduro.

RE: Padron 2000 Maduro

For some reason, I have experienced bitterness as well with the few Pad. 2000 maduros I've smoked. Perhaps it is the combination of the smaller size and commonly loose draws that contribute to this...just a thought. The 3000 maduro is my 'go to' smoke. I haven't had any let me down yet. The LGC wavell is also a great smoke.
