Montesino Revisited...
I confess to gushing over the flavor of a Montesino Diplimatico last week, though I do not apologize. Though the 5.5 X 42 size was a bit smaller than I prefer, the maduro wrapper was tasty, the chocolate-coffee flavor was very satisfying, the burn was great, and it left me feeling as though I should try another size of the same.
AND SO... Here I sit, midway through the larger version (El Presidente, I believe)... And here I sit again, entirely satisfied! This is a carbon-copy-big-sister to the Diplimatico. Draw is nice, scent is nice, flavor is a chocolate-coffee ditto, and I actually enjoy the aftertaste! I recently shared (positive) thoughts about the El Mejor Espresso, and I would suggest that the flavor of this smoke is similar. If you're into the mild-medium stuff, and enjoy the chocolate-coffee flavor, I would recommend this without regrets. (My pallet is entirely subjective, as are yours!!!) |

Re: Montesino Revisited...
The Montesino Diplomatico Maduro was the first full box of cigars that I ever purchased. I still enjoy them from time to time today. I also enjoy the Montesino Sun Grown line as well.

Re: Montesino Revisited...
I haven't had a Diplomatico in probably a couple of years. I recall it always being a satisfying smoke, particularly for the price. I just may have to "revisit" this one myself.

Re: Montesino Revisited...
JR has the Montesino #1 (6.88X43) as the replacement Deal Of The Week, $50/bx of 25 Natural or Maduro. That's almost 1/2 off MSRP which is unheard of for Fuente-Made sticks.
(as usual, if I only hadn't bought those 2 boxes last week I would be buying these now! ) -Matt- |

Re: Montesino Revisited...
To correct a mistake in the OP... The Montesino I smoked last night was the Gran Corona (not El Presidente, as I had suggested).
Ironically, I find maduros in the Puros Indios line (including the El Presidente) to be quite similar to the Montesino M's... From a price/pleasure standpoint, I'm happy with both lines! |
