newbie takes on la gloria cubana maduro serie no. 5 Review

It is a masculine no bullshitting kind of cigar. It's a beauty to look at, rustic with deep color. The fragrance unlit was very tempting, rich espresso and woody. After lighting it, I was hit with a bitter spicy taste. This mellowed very quickly. I found the initial smoke to be pretty straight forward, heavy and earthy.

It seems each cigar I smoke tells me a story as though smoking a cigar is a conversation. Do I recognize myself in the story the cigar is telling me or is it like going off to a foreign country and I am at a loss without out vocabulary and sense of direction. A smoke this rich and meaty and spicy seemed to speak of the strength of the ancestors - when men were men and there were no ifs ands or buts.

This is a smoke to take time with, relax into. It has long ash and satisfying smoke.

I kept feeling a satisfaction with each draw. It was as though I was saying, yes this too is who I am. But I also wanted to relax with it more, I wanted it to seduce me more. If this was a conversation, the cigar spoke with an authoritative voice, almost argumentative it's need to be forceful. Yet there was the woody bite, the sweet maduro, the rich deep coffee, the hint of oak. Despite its spiciness it was a very smooth smoke. The quality of the cigar is obvious but it is not a young man's smoke. It asks of me to grow up, grab a good scotch and find a beautiful woman who can submit to my strength.

I think I need to smoke a few more of these - hehe

Re: newbie takes on la gloria cubana maduro serie no. 5

I was staying in Manhattan last month, woke up one morning and strolled around Riverside Park. As I headed to Broadway, I saw a smoke shop and bought an LGC Serie R #5. Fired it up and headed back to the park. Walked about 30 blocks or so enjoying this fine smoke. If I could do this every morning, life would be grand!

When I first got into cigars..LGC's #5 used to be one of my favorites. It's funny how your tastes change over time. The #5 though is a good smoke.

Just smoked one. It cost me $11, but it was mostly worth it at least. Good full flavor without any pepper or spiciness. Just sweet flavor.
