Cubao No. 4 Review

Date: 11/2/08

Cigar: Cubao No. 4 (4 7/8 x 50)

Cost: $5

Drink: Coca-Cola Classic (the best cola out there)

Appearance: 1 Banded Cigar that says Cubao with a brown background. It says Espinosa y Ortega at the top. This has an ecuador sumatra oscuro wrapper. There were some veins showing.

Taste of the cigar: This cigar had a woodsy, spicy, and coffee taste to it. It is somewhat one-dimensional.

Construction: Held an average ash. The draw was a little bit too loose. The cigar required a few touchups, but had a razor sharp burn for the most part.

Strength: This was a medium-full cigar.

Summary: This cigar was pretty average and one-dimensional to me. I dont think I will ever buy a box of these. Maybe a single every now and then. I give it a 7/10.

The #3 lancero is imo, by far, the best in the line and the strongest.

Thanks for the review. I have been thinking about trying a couple of these for a while. Not sure I will go out of my way to get one now.

Didn't say I was not going to try them. Just not go out of my way to pick them up. Don't have any B&Ms close.

Good enough but in that case, what you are saying is that you have to go out of your way to get any cigar.

As a fairly new and infrequent smoker myself, I can understand this:

There are many many other cigars that get the thumbs up from members so I tend to try those first rather than taking a bigger risk on something that doesn't sound like it will float my boat.

Not to say I would turn one of these down if offered, but when buying I would be more inclined to spend my time and money on a cigar that people say favorable things about.

It works both ways. There are many cigars that get thumbs down that I like very much and people say favorable things about plenty of cigars that I think are crap, like Fuente and Taboo products. You have to try them and make up your own mind. There isn't a cigar in the world you will find that everybody likes or dislikes for that matter. Well, maybe the Cremosa.

That's a fact unless I order them on the internet.

Re: Cubao No. 4

I burned through a 5'er of these pretty quickly and could not stop thinking about them, which is my test for a box purchase. I loved how rich and flavorful they come off, and of course, perfectly constructed. These have some hype to them, which to me is deserved.

So tell me, why do we review cigars here?
