THese are a first rate smoke. I got a 5 pack in a sampler and think I will be getting more of these. It is a Robusto size, 4.7" x 50 that has a nice medium to full bodied flavor. It is a Nicaraguan that retails in the $5 a stick range.
THe construction was good. THe wrapper is a little rustic and has some veins in it. But was tasty. THe draw was perfect for me with just the right amount of ressistance. It was solid with no soft spots. The burn was slow and cool. I got over a 1/2 hour out of this. THe ash was firm and white on the outside with darler shades of black and grey on the inside. Once lit, it had a nice strong flavor. It is earthy with hints of spice and pepper with a slight sweetness that I think came from the aged wrapper. After about an inch, the pepper flavors kicked in a little more, but not to the point of being harsh. Then it settled back down to a smooth finish. All in all, it was a nice smoke. I will consider a box purchase of these in the near future. I give it a big thumbs up!!!

Re: CAO Criollo Pato
Nice review!! While my taste usually max's out on the south side of full, this one sounds interesting! A short burst of flavor in a robusto is sounding good right about now! And my limited experience with CAOs seems to indicate that they're consistent, not "hit-or-miss."
Did you HAVE to put yet another one on my hit list!!?? |
