Ovation by Alec Bradley Baron Review

I picked up several of these at a B&M that was closing them out for half off.

I got both the Corojo and Maduro. These are a wide Robusto sized cigar 5" x 54. Both had great construction with a firm ash, even burn and a light draw. THe wrappers have some veins, but are not bad at all.

The Corojo is a medium bodied flavored smoke. It is complex with nuts and light spice. THere is also a little sweetness in there. It picks up a little more spice as the the smoke goes on. My pick would be the Maduro. It tastes much the same as the Corojo, but all the flavors just seem to be amped up slightly.

I think they are worth the money. I would pay the $5 a cigar for these, especially the Maduro. I just wish the shop had more of these when I picked them up. I got the last 7 that they had.

I think they are decent sticks. When I got some off the devil, I really didn't know how they would pan out. It turns out that Bradley makes a good stick.

I definitely agree with your assessment.

Your post makes me think of a rather disappointing experience with the AB corojo... I supposed that it was just the wrapper flavor that left me flat, because the smoke itself was quite good!

QUESTION: Is there something about the Corojo that either attracts or repels the taste buds???

Never had any of that brand, but based on this it seems like something that I might just have to try if I come across them.

Thanks for the review.

For me it tends to depend on the cigar. Sometimes when I have a Corojo Cigar when I put it in my mouth, it just tastes a bit sour. I like Corojo better on a more full bodied cigar, like say a Rocky Patel Edge. A maduro wrapper can add more complexity to a milder cigar.

For me the Ovation was a very good cigar with the Corojo, but the Maduro just enhanced everything on the inside. I have a fiver of the Cameroon on the way. I will add my comments on them after I get them.

Re: Ovation by Alec Bradley Baron

I had one of the Cameroons today. It had an uneven burn, but that may have been due to the fact that it needed to sit a bit longer in the humidor.

THe taste and consturction were otherwise simular to the others. The rapper was smooth and silky. I would say it was a little mellower than the other two, but had a very nice flavor to it.

I think I like this series better than the Trilogy Series. They are a nice smoke. I like the large 54 ring guage in Robustos. I would buy any of the three wrappers that are available, though Maduro is my favorite. THey are a good buy at C-BId pricing and have already worked their way into my daily smoke rotation.
