Carlos Torano 1916 Review

Okay guys, a couple of things before I write this one up.
- This cigar was recommended by a friend, who had similar taste in cigars, but boy was I up for a surprise!
- I'm trying to really enjoy my cigars, so it's hard to take pictures. I thought I did, but I guess i forgot to take some this time.
- I wrote this up in phases. So sorry if the structure seems odd.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Is it just me or is it the effect of the green wrapper, or does the pre-draw taste like mint?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm still stuck on the pre-draw. The smell says cigar, but also something else. I can't quite figure it out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
the initial taste is great. I feel herbs, and spice. So smooth.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
An inch into it, it tastes like an illusione (not much flavor), but still, much much smoother. I think I'm growing in this whole cigar tasting deal, because I just got it. It's not mint, it's a bitter spice, it's PEPPER!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
About 1 and 3/4 of an inch into it. The pepper flavor is interesting. I'm more of a fan of spicy cigars, but this flavor is definitely good to experience.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I close my teeth, and leave my lips open, and I gradually let out the smoke, and it's pepper, maybe some wood, but also something like cream....maybe
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Two inches of Ash, and it's holding strong and nice. Color is nice, nothing spectacular, but just a real nice solid light gray ash.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
As sexy as that ash looked, it was time to make the first drop off.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Half way through! Too much pepper!!!! But it's one smooth smoke, I'd have to give it to my boy Carlos.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
There's about a third left and I'm rolling the cigar around my fingers and the wrapper is cracking, I guess that's natural for a cigar that's pretty much dried up because of the heat.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Almost done, and the spice is consistent, a little mellower, and that cream I told you about seems more noticeable.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
A pepper experience, all the way to the end.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Wrap up:
Good cigar, good color and smell. A pepper and cream, that is not for everyone. If you are a pepper man, you hit the jackpot. But for me it wasn't in the top ten as I'm more of a spicy guy. But don't get me wrong, if you like pepper, THIS IS IT!!!!

But honestly did you at some point wish there was less pepper?

Interesting. I get a predominate nutty flavor with these and not much spice. The cameroon wrapper is very thin and when it dries the least bit, it will start to crack and flake. That's my main problem with them. Other than that, I really enjoy pretty much all of Torano's offerings.

Thanks for the review. I have gone through a box of these and my experience has been more along the lines of NCRadioMan.

Re: Carlos Torano 1916

I'm a pretty new BOTL , had one today, pretty much had the same experience until then last 1/3 was so strong I had to give up on it.

Also my wrapper was a little flakey to on the last end of it also.

I know what you mean about the strong ending. After that I brushed my teeth and went to bed, when I woke up in the morning I could still taste it...
