great review Donnie , But I have to say I was not a fan of this smoke. Maybe it was me that day but it didn't seem to click. I might have to try this one again.

Re: My Father

I had one last week. Like all DPGs, it was excellent. The point I would make about it is that it is, for a Pepin, mild IMHO, which would put it in the JJ or medium category. [I usually smoke black and blues] BTW, have you tried the La Aroma De Cuba Pepin version, veryyy nice.

Re: My Father

Thanks for the review. I've been trying to find one of them locally, but I can't seem to find one. I should have picked one up when I saw them on vacation in FL. Bah.

I saw that ashtray in a B&M and have been trying my hardest to forget about it. I'm probably putting that on my x-mas list now. That is slick.

That's interesting. I find this cigar to be on the strong side but not as strong as the Blue. I find the Black Label to be medium at best. Except the Perla. The new LAdC's kick arse! Another solid medium strength goodie, to me.

I agree Greg. While surely not the powerhouse that has come to be the norm for DPG it still had plenty of "kick" to it. IMO the strongest cigar he blends is the Black Label Perla.

Re: My Father

Great review!! loved the pics and the ashtray. The lancero though is top notch. IMO its a cross between the red and brown tats... and what a beautiful cross it is.

EDIT:Haha didn't know I had already posted on here before. But this review lead me to the lancero.

Re: My Father

I'm about to have my first baby in May and we find out the sex of the baby tomorrow. If its a girl i'm definitly putting a box of My Father's on the stogie list for the celebration. I haven't yet decided on the box I'll buy if its a boy maybe the Blue's mywife and i both love Pepin so it will probaboly be something in his line up.

As for the My Father excellent review i have smoke every size in this smoke and they are all great smokes. I think the lancero is my personal favorite, but the torpedo is a close second and will be the box i pick up.

Re: My Father

Great review! And pics. Your review was pretty much right on from the experience I had when I tried one. I really love the Habano-Rosado leaf wrapper on this cigar. Very good smoke!

Great review, thanks. I too will have to lay me hands on a few of these.
Other good news is, since jaime made them, that means to me that Pepin Garcia cigars are gonna be around for a looong time to come. Kinda like passing the baton without a misstep.

How much variation do you think there is between batches? From my experience I find that black label are the strongest, with blue on a medium and then JJ series being on a mild side (for MY palate). All bought at Miami factory at the same time. I also hear this from my local B&M, any and all Garcia made lines have wild variations in body and taste depending on a batch (main reason they cut down on a number of them advising me to taste a cigar from a specific box and then buy THAT box if I like it. Many Miami area shops do not carry Garcia lines as well). Judging by the responses in this thread and others I think there is a huge variance which should thankfully disappear soon as their own plantations supply more and more leaf and they do not have to depend on outside contracts.

You might want to keep those two things a little further away from each other.

Seriously, great review!
