Thumbs up My Father Review

Don Pepin Garcia
My Father #1 5.25" x 52
Wrapper: Ecuador
Binder/Filler: Nicaragua
Presentation: Beautiful band, very elegant looking

Was gifted two of the My Father blend by NCRadioman(Greg).
After a rest in the cooler I have decided to smoke the robusto.

The cigar is beautiful and feels heavy in the hand.
The wrapper is lush and very silky.

Barely sliced the cap and the pre-light draw is excellent.

The drink of choice with this cigar is some of Kentucky's finest. From the hills and served in a Mason jar.

Lit with my trusty ronson Jet-Lite. Lit easily and evenly.
First draw is very easy and has the Pepin spice immediately which I have come to expect.

The first third of this cigar has plenty of peppery smoke that is accentuated by exhaling through the nose. Hints of something that I can't really describe (nutmeg maybe).

The second third of this cigar has settled into a smooth taste with just hints of the spice intermittenly on the nose exhale.
Cigar is burning cool and slow. The ash holds nicely and the burn is even. This cigar is confusing because everytime I think the spice has disappeared it reemerges.(I like this aspect)

The last third remains consistent with a little more of the spice present. Also getting some floral hints mixed in.
This cigar has a nice range of flavors instead of just beating your senses to death with just the same one over and over. Not once have I had to purge this cigar, which is unusual for me.

Overall impresion: This is an excellent cigar! I would recommend everyone try this at least once, Pepin fan or not.

Re: My Father

Great review and pictures Donnie!

I'm a Don Pepin Garcia fan too, and after reading this I'll have to try these.

Now you got me in the mood...
...so in the meantime, I think I'll go see what Pepins I have in my coolerdor.

Re: My Father

The best part about this cigar is that it is blended by Jaime Garcia in honor of his father Don Pepin. That means that the Don has done a great job teaching his son on the finer points of blending a cigar. He has done a great job with this cigar. Glad you liked it Donnie and good review!

Yes he has taught his son very well. You can taste the signature DPG spice but there seems to be a little something extra in addition.

Re: My Father

Very nice review for a really good cigar. I have about 5 of them and have already smoked 2 and the second was as good as the first. Guess I may have to break down and get 5 more.

Re: My Father

Luckily Kyle sent me one of these. I will probably wait a couple of more weeks to let it rest before lighting it up.

Hopefully I don't like it that much. . . I am out of money and space in my vino.

Thanks for the great review!
