Saturday night Fuente - Gran Reserve + a whole bottle....

Vitals:

Brand: Arturo Fuente
Build: Gran Reserve
Size: 4.5x50
Cost: 5.25
Drink: Whoel bottle of Chard.

Backstory:

The same guy that rec'd me the NUB was the same gent that shoed me to the Fuente Gran Reserve. He told me that it was an altogether diffeent flavor but that i would like it. He was much more experienced than myself so i took his word.

Prelude:
Well, i watched the ohio state game. The USC game was not in my area, and my fiance was working late. So i had a desire to pull out this stick and a bottle of white whine. I went for a Chard!

Columbus is a great city, i was relaxing and enjoyign my night, this cigar complimented my nice decently, it wasn;t the best cigar i ever smoked, but it brought a similar cedar taste that i have come to love with the Maria Mancinis.

BTW, i am Drunk.

First things first:
Let us examine the form. The wrapper is nice and oily. Its wrapped well, but there are some imperfections. The aroma is sweet, like a gurkha master select (that i sampled three weeks ago) and its appearance is a 10.

Constriction:
It is rolled well. A few minor imperfections in the wrapper. A small gouge, something that i would not expect from a fuente, and i DID buy this from a B&M.... wheres the quality check? Its not going to affect the cigar at all... its just aesthetically unappealing. The consistency is solid.. .again, i refer to the CAO quality mark.

I need to change my name to "Mr Swanky"

Re: Saturday night Fuente - Gran Reserve + a whole bottle....

First Bite:

It starts out a little harsh actually, mellows out. And then the woodsy cedar tastes shine through. A little more aggresive than i expected. The draw was decent.... but not a "dime". I wish i would have poke it to get the cloud that i was anticipating.

Swanky Colibri shot!

Whittling it down:

Its a decent smoke, nothing to write home about in general... but the taste is there, and satisfying. the draw is getting better... still tight. The burn is a bit uneven.. but that doesnt really affect the taste. The aroma is wonderful, i would burn this cigar as incense.

Closing the deal:

The cigar has started to heat up, but it is deffinitely a medium bodied cigar. I was hoping for a little more of a flavor explosion near the end... but its just as "smooth" as it was when i got 1 inch in.

I WILL Drop your ash!!:

We're nearing the end. The cigar was ok. Nothing to write hoem about, but it was "good" in all areas!

I probably wont toss it into the rotation, but it was very unique.

It was a great end to a long night.

BTW< the bottle of wine is now gone,... i am wasted!

Go Browns!!!

Cliff's notes:

1. the aroma was awesome

2. the cigar had a dynamic flavor

3. burn was uneven

4. draw could have been a little more loose

Thanks for the review....

Hmm.... A. Fuente.... Gran Reserva..... 4.5x50.... cedar wrap with a black band....
This cigar is a dead ringer for the Chateau Sun Grown cigars I have sleeping in my stash.

Sound good to me!
