I've never been dissapointed with a FDO purchase, who can with that price. I got bored of them after so many but I'd never turn one down.

I found this thread earlier in the week, and tried to hop on the deal @ atlantic.

After putting in the order for a bundle of FDO maddie churchills, which I like to have in my humidor, I received an email today from atlantic, letting me know that they're backordered. Oh by the way, even though my order went through with free shipping, if I still want them it'll be $6 to ship. They offered to let me have another size, but the shipping thing irked me. I can buy a bundle for less than $43 at my local B&M.

It seemed a little odd to tell me I'll have to wait a week for my order, and charge me for shipping as well. I let them know to go ahead and cancel my order.

Just a quick story of my first (and last) order with Atlantic, pertaining to the FDO deal mentioned on page 2 of this thread.

Thanks Bobby for another graphically enhanced review.

I just happened to have tried my first FdeO today. It was a sumatra (courtesy of Itsme Timd via the newbie PIF). Damn, it was a fine smoke! I also noticed a touch of bitterness in the first few puffs but that cleared up into a solid performance. I might just have to pick up a bundle or two of these.

It ticks me off too. This is the last I'll bring it up here, since this thread is about the FDO Maddie, which is a damn fine smoke for the price, but I received a follow up email from atlantic. They responded with "Ok, your order has been cancelled." Wasn't what I was expecting, because I figured that $6 is a small price to pay to keep someone as a customer, especially with it being their first order. Guess not.

This, of course, isn't enough to sour me on FDO, I'm smoking a natural churchill right now!

yes, the start has been bitter on half the ones i smoked!!! it evens out though

I've been put off by the Flor de Oliva line ever since I ordered a bundle of Flor de Oliva natural Lonsdale's. The wrappers were saturated in some sort of sickly sweet coating that was really nasty .
I ended up giving 24 of them to my father in law who liked them, but then again he normally smokes backwoods.

I assume these wrappers are not coated with anything?

no, not coated with anything.... just an oily sheen.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the FdO Originals (sumatra) have a sweetened tip, but that the rest of the FdO line did not have this.

I've only had one but it did not have a swettened cap...
