Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Review

Rocky Patel seems to have released several new cigars this year. Just this month there's the Autumn and the Renaissance. I really liked the Decade cigar from a couple months ago. Yet I wanted to go back and revisit the vintage 1992. I loved the 1990 so much so that I think it colored my view of the 1992.

My Patel palette seems cleansed so on my return visit, I noticed just what a remarkable little cigar this is. I think this a more mature smoke than the 1990, the flavors seem to have more depth and complexity. It's nutty and rich, but I tell you, what gets me most on this cigar is the fragrance. I could just sit and smoke these just to appreciate the olfactory delight. It's sweet and simply classy -- it takes me to another place. It's a drier smoke than the 1990 - not as creamy. However, I find it has a richer and deeper dark chocolate flavor that seems perfect for a special after dinner smoke with friends. With Thanksgiving coming up seems like a good smoke to offer guests with brandy or port.

Re: Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

I just tried the 1990 Robusto for the first time. Guess the 1992 is next on my list. The '90 was rich and flavorful, with bittersweet choc. notes and plenty of spice on the finish. I share your thoughts about the RP Vintage. I was thinking I would bring some along for the holidays to offer folks after dinner. Great cigars.

Re: Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

Nice review.
I have a couple 92's in my humi just sitting there. Be it that I have [for the most part] gone over to the dark side this still is one of my first cigars that I was truely blown away with.
I will always have good things to say about this cigar

I absolutely love the 1992's. Bought a box of the mini belicoso's on the devil site and they're just perfect. And I definitely agree with the OP on the fragrance. Best-smelling cigar I've ever smoked.

I, too, prefer the 92s. I find the aroma to be rich as you described it. Frankly, the taste/aroma reminds me of chocolate-covered cherries. Hard to beat.

Re: Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

I'm new to this hobby, but I have to say out of the first few cigars I've tried, this one has stood out as an early favorite. I'm still trying to figure out how to taste or describe a cigar, but for now it goes in the "I like" pile, right up there with the Taboo twist I tried over the weekend.

I have no idea how people can knock the RP Vintage 90 or 92. Excellent smokes. I always have a few on hand and am never disappointed.

I agree. While it is not a cigar that is going to blow you away they are a cigar that is good and is very consistent. I always feel that these are in the go-to category for this very reason. You know what to expect when you pick it up and it delivers time after time.

Re: Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

My collection has more vintage 90 and 92s than any other marcas.

They are definitely one of my favorite go-tos!
