Puros Indios Maxima Reserva Review

Well, I'm new at this so here it goes. I bought a used mosaic humidor off ebay as I've been starting to buy singles and a few doubles. It came with all kinds of stuff, ashtray, empty tins, humidification gel, etc. etc.

But I was surprised, I got 5 cigars with it, so I was excited and decided to start trying them out. I looked at them and since I usually smoke them in my outdoor hottub I chose a relatively small one, guessing 42 or 44 ring size and about 5" in length. It also had a neat looking band, now I sound like my wife, buying wine because she likes the label. But in my defense I didn't buy these, they were an extra gift that wasn't part of the deal.

The cigar I chose blindly, just for size and looks for tonights smoke. I mentioned it was smoked in the hottub, and I forgot to mention that it's 32 degrees out, hence the smaller the better.

I opened it and was impressed with it, seemed to be well rolled and I could see the veins on the wrapper. It had a good aroma and I let it sit while I uncovered the tub. It didn't cut that well, but the cutter I used was the one I got with the cigar, so it isn't the new one I bought, so I can't hold that against it.

It has/had a very nice and easy draw after cutting it, squeezing the cigar I could tell it wasn't overly tight in the wrapping.

It smoked very well, considering the humidity and moisture in the air coming up from the tub, until it got about 3/4 of the way down, then it burnt down one side more, think this is called canoeing? I don't know for sure if it was the cigar or the fact that I kept forgetting to keep my hand out of the water when I put it down, might have made it wet on one side and cause the problem. The ash was great and held onto it nicely, I got nervous and didn't want to drop the ash into the hottub, so I kept it relatively short.

Overall I was impressed with the smoke, it had a mild quality to me, I couldn't pick out any special flavors, but I'm still new at this, so please forgive me if I'm ignorant on flavors. I can't translate it to words, but after smoking it my lips did have a pleasant flavor to them and sort of a tingling feeling, maybe pepper? Kinda likening it to eating hot peppers and how it makes your lips tingle. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a hot pepper flavor, just likening it to that.

I would smoke it again if I had the chance to get another one, I haven't seen them around here, so getting different sticks that aren't popular locally is a very nice treat that I'm sure I'll keep looking forward to more as my taste buds evolve.

I hate to give it a numerical rating as I haven't been exposed to many yet, but maybe I'll stop back and give it a number when I'm not a virgin!

Sounds like you had a good time with it, it's always nice finding a little extra. Those Indios Resera's are a good smoke, glad you enjoyed that one.

p.s. Love the sig line.

Re: Puros Indios Maxima Reserva

Nice review. As far as tasting different things and describing them, don't worry, that will come with experience. In fact you will find some older smokers whose ratings are: good, ok , and bleh

Sounds to me like you got the important part down which is, you enjoyed it.

As for the canoeing problem, it was probably the humidity from the hot tub causing it. Of course I am sure the wet hand didn't help any.
