Taboo HSG Torpedo Review

Taboo HSG torpedo
This cigar was test driven outdoors in a windy evening, not the ideal setting for a cigar tasting so take this into consideration. It was paired with a Torres brandy which proved a bit overpowering. A nice dark coffee may be a better choice. This cigar is priced at $4.50.
Appearance and construction: Beautiful, slightly veined and oily dark Colorado wrapper. No soft spots. This, I must say, is one the prettiest sticks I have seen in a while.
Pre-lit draw: slightly on the loose side but quite acceptable.

Initial third: Mild to medium bodied, flavor mostly caramel with subtle floral notes. At this point, draw is still on the loose side.

Second third: Flavors now acquire additional leather and nutty nuances. The caramel is pretty much gone. There is a slight twang and spice at this point. It remains medium in body. At some point the burn becomes difficult to control and there is tunneling going on. The cigar ends up requiring a second light.

Last third: Spice and tanginess become more pronounced but still very pleasant on the palate.

Overall, a pleasant and complex smoke. Burn was a significant issue although I suspect some of it could be blamed on the windy conditions.

Re: Taboo HSG Torpedo

I like these, but found the robusto to be a little more flavorful. Letting the last 3 I have sit for a while to see if it helps them at all. This is a gorgeuos cigar though. Thanks for the review!
