La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurado Maduro Review

Shape: Perfecto
Wrapper: Conn. Broadleaf
Filler: D.R., Nic.
Binder: Nicaragua

I picked this cigar up at the same time I picked up my first El Jocko. I wanted to compare the two brands as the body looked the same. I smoked this one before the El Jocko, but I haven't had the time to post this review, so here we go.

The wrapper looked very nice, and the body was special to me. It was my first time trying a perfecto and I was really looking forward to it.
The smell is very nice as well. Goes very well with the dark brown color of the wrapper, it yells out maduro, and well, that's all I like to hear.

I cut the cigar and took a pre light draw. It was very nice, spice, with a hint of earth. I'm not a big fan of earthly flavor as I have mentioned that in my Indian Tabac review, but this was good, sort of a good mix with the dominent spice, they went well together. I had cut the cigar and from the previous posts I had learned about the "dick cut", and that's what I tried for the first time.

I lit up the cigar and we were in business. The smoke is oddly cool. Now that I'm writing this review after the El Jocko, I'm starting to think it has something to do with the perfecto shape. It's very enjoyable, the cool smoke hitting your tongue. The dick cut specially makes it very convenient to hit the tongue straight.

After a few pus I must admit, it's hard to get a draw from this cigar.
I could probably say this is the smoothest cigar I've ever had, however there is a hing of something that can be described as woody, but not the wood alone, more like wood and gasoline....! So it's a nice flavor, but every puff leaves a gasoline like after taste that I am not digging. Aside from that I can't complain, everything is great, the burn, the smoke, the ash is nice as well, not white, but a light grey.

I had to tip the ash. The cigar is mid way through and the spice flavor is very obvious now. It's a very relaxing cigar, I guess I'm too focused on what flavor is where, but I'm thinking that if it was a nice weekend afternoon in the outdoors this cigar would be a nice little complement to whatever activity I'd be doing.

At this point the spice has remaind constant, and that gasoline flavor is almost gone. Well I'm sure that is gone, but the after taste has remaind, but gradually vanishing.

At this point I took no more pictures, and for a good reason. The cigar had peaked. The flavor was a good amount of spice, with a oaky woody hint. I just kicked back and smoked the rest of it, wishing the cigar was bigger. The perfecto's are hard for me to nub, but I tried as hard as I could to smoke this one.

Overall:
- A nice cigar (Not as good as El Jocko though)
- great look, great ash, and a very nice burn
- kind of a weird taste in the first half, but an amazing ending
- wish the ending could go for ever

Nice review Seyed. I remember smoking something back when I first started and the finish reminded me of gasoline, I wish I could remember what it was.

I wonder what causes such flavor? Does it have to do with the tobacco, where it's stored, or is it an actual flavor that we mistake for gasoline....? I donno....
