Barely legal - Cusano 18 Review

Backstory:

I received this in a sampler that I received from Thompson cigars about a month ago and its been laying around. A good friend of mine raved about how much he loved the Cusano 18 so I took the opp. To try it tonight.

The cigar was very strong. One of the strongest cigars I have smoked. It had the same affect on me as the Camacho SLR that I smoked last week.

Body, mind, and ligero:
Tightly wound like a Sunday newspaper. The unlit aroma is amazing, it stings the nose a little bit. It smells like an fresh ground bag of Colombian roast coffee.

Drawing:
The draw is a little tighter than I prefer, but it’s nice and easy. I’m sure it will loosen up as we progress. The rich and bold taste is present. I’m glad I ate before this stick or I would feel a little woozy!

Re: Barely legal - Cusano 18

Similarities:
The cigar is very similar to The comacho SLR as far as how heavy and powerful it was. Its got a much lighter after effect though. It’s definitely satisfying and the rich dark leathery taste produces smoke that you could choke on.

Going the distance:
This stick is kicking my butt, but im not giving up, the dark flavor and rich aroma keeps my tuned in and wanting more, like watching all the primma donnas on “the hills”. I want to note that the flavor is very one sided and hasn’t changed much. This is something I usually stray from… but its still satisfying, just not blowing my hair back.

Almost over:
The cigar is starting to spice up, heat up, and add a rich textured dynamic to the draw, but not really to the flavor. There is also a part of the base flavor that I can not pinpoint, its very unique and resembles the twang of the Habano I smoked last week. Maybe its just my palette tuning in.

Closing time:
We are about ready to wrap this beyotch up and im not against it. Whiel it was a good cigar … the blend was rough on the throat and the palette. The burn was smooth as I would expect and the draw did loosen up nearing the end.

CLIFFS
1. strong as heck
2. 1 sided flavor
3. pleasant burn and draw

Re: Barely legal - Cusano 18

Very nice review.

You really found a Cusano to be very strong? Can't say that any of them I have had would be considered better than medium.
