Thumbs up Don Pepin Garcia El Centurion Guerreros Review

After reading many other reviews and smoking a lot more cigars, I’m going to take a shot at an numerically rating system based on a few overall critical of “Overall Appearance,” being 12%, “Construction and Draw being” being 19%, “Burn” being 19%, and “Taste” being the remaining 50%.

Don Pepin Garcia El Centurion Guerreros, PIF Trade but CI has them for $10.75 each

Overall Appearance: Bad (0), OK (1), Good (2)
Appearance: Good (2)
Consistency of Wrapper: OK (2)
Construction and Draw: Bad (0), OK (1), Good (2)
Construction too Lose/Hard: Good (2)
Draw too Easy/Hard: Good (2)
Well Made: Good (2)
Burn: Bad (0), OK (1), Good (2)
Initial: OK (1)
Even: OK (1)
Too Fast/Slow: Good (2)
Taste: Bad (0), OK (2), Good (4)
First Third: Good (4)
Second Third: Good (4)
Final Third: OK (2)
Complexity: Good (4)
Total score of 27 out of 32 – 88%

Today was not a good day to have a cigar. With all the fires in California, the air quality was extremely bad. Why, I think I heard more complaints about the air than my smoke!
Review
1st Third

Mild, that’s the word to go with this cigar and also no spice; this definitely was not expected of a Pepping cigar. It was quite smooth though with lots of flavor and complexity though which made up for its mildness. It started slightly sweet with some floral mint, than it changed to a very oak and papery flavor, and finished with some creamy butteriness; yum!
2nd Third

While the sweetness disappeared, it was replaced with a good bit of toast and leather in addition to all of the other flavors. Even though the air quality was atrocious, I was definitely rocking out on this cigar.
3rd and Finish

This cigar turned quite floral through this last third and, eh, not a flavor I particularly enjoy. The other flavors, while still there, were a quite harmony compared to the full melody of the floral flavor. Not bad, just not something I personally enjoy; to each their own.
Thoughts
This cigar looked great with no flaws and a great golden wrapper. The construction was top notch with no hard spots, and good draw; a well made cigar in deed. The burn though was pretty off the whole time with a few touchups required but the speed was good. I must admit though, this smoke was a bit on the mild side and the only reason I praise it so was because of the flavor. The flavor was top notch with probably one of the most complex cigars I’ve smoked. At $10 though, I would be hesitant to purchase these. But I most likely would, not for myself, but for good friends that have never had a cigar before that need something mild.

Nice review. Right now, this is one of my favorite sticks. Not too nuts about the price though. I detected a subtle spice in mine though. Not so much as the Pepin Blue, but it was there.

Not one of my favorite Pepins and I do not find these to be mild. More med/full to me. I'll take a Benchmade all day over this one.

Really? I find that Blues are med-full to full and the El Centurion paled in comparison to the Blue's strength.

I had to have gotten a bum one of these. The one I had was more like a Macanudo then anything else, completely un-Pepinesque. I may have to revisit these, appreciate the review.

What Blacks did you buy?

The Blues are awesome. Lots of reviews floating around here.

I did a review of one a few weeks ago. One word - strong and insanely spicey & peppery.

Re: Don Pepin Garcia El Centurion Guerreros

I smoked one of these a couple weeks ago and was blown away by the flavor for a mild/med cigar. The aroma is out of this world and there is nothing else out there like it that I have smoked. While it is not your usual Pepin flavor it is a quality limited edition smoke and it nice to see how this guy can make switch it up with different blends. Get them while you can!
