Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic Review

This is my 2nd of this lovely Churchill, having just taken it from a beetle-retarding freeze over the weekend. I've been looking for a milder smoke to contrast my usual CAO Brazilias and I may have found it.

I'm listening to old Bob Dylan (Blonde on Blonde), cranked up the A/C in my office and am drinking a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf iced coffee with a little vanilla powder in it -- it's in the mid-80's here in Los Angeles . I just got back from my doctors who said my EKG was great... so I'm celebrating.

The first inch on a smoke is often a throwaway. Not here. This is among the nicest smelling initial lights I've ever had. I don't know how they did it, but lighting this baby just whets the appetite for more. It's like smoking a cappucino and I find myself taking whiffs of the lit end... often. This is a smell I could enjoy waking me up in the morning. Nice rich and woody. Coffee, cinnamon... nutmeg? I'm almost looking forward to leaving my office where I'm smoking it so I can come back in and have the aroma hit me again afresh. There is a little sweetness to this smoke and I like that a lot. In an earlier incarnation (my college days) there was something else I recall that had a "sweet" burn. But like the Ringo Starr song... no no no no, I don't toke any more. This smoke almost makes me feel like I'm breaking rules.

I'm still a relative newb as a BOTL and when I see something at my local B&M that has been well-reviewed, I tend to grab 3 to evaluate.

This one's batting 1.000. Wish it were cheaper but it's a nice long smoke so it's not a bad value.

I'm dusting off the jeweler's screwdriver for nubbing it.

I would NOT share one of these with a Yancy Street Gang bum.

Re: Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic

For some reason I think the smaller ones from this line smoke better for me. Either way, it's a damn good series. Get your hands on a WOA or Best Seller. Those are treats as well.

One thing to say about that cigar - Its a Fuente.

This is one of the most consistent and best tasting Non Cuban cigar on the market today !

Nice review. Glad you enjoyed.

Re: Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic

I don't think I've ever seen a negative review of any Fuente, especially not of a Hemingway. There's a reason why they sell through so quickly and a reason why they're priced as they are. Great review!

I agree that this is an excellent smoke. Like cameroncouch said before me, if you like the churchill, I would also try the best seller. mmmmMMM!!!

I'm working through a box of Signatures and agree this is an outstanding cigar.

Re: Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic

Is it the maduro or natural?

The maduro is probably one of my favorite fuentes. Reminds me a lot of the Anejos.

Like smoking hot chocolate mmmmmm

Fuentes are such a great value - you get a heckuva nice smoke without breaking the bank. Nice review, Aaron!

Bar none my personel favorites is the Hemingway line... If you get the chance for an even longer smoke try the Masterpiece or better yet the Untold Story, absolutely awesome and they will keep you entertained for hours...

Re: Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic

I stopped at my local on the way home last night and collected the last box of Mi Cubano maduro #650's (packed May, 2004) to stash in the winecoolerdor for another day. For $2+change they are a good smoke when aged and plumed a bit. I like a maduro second to none. Except -

On the way out I reversed field and grabbed a three AFBS/Hemingways. Outside of my preferred maduros, this smoke is just a standout. Love the profile, the construction, the burn, the box and the aroma.

Read your review this morning. Spot on.

Damn good gars, my favorite size of Hemingway.
I really don't care so much for the smaller ones though I know I'm in the minority.

I couldn't agree more, I started on the Fuente lines way back when but lately I had moved away from them for some reason but I keep finding myself going to the Fuente section at my B&M.
