Thumbs up Padron 2000 Maduro Review

Padron 2000 Maduro Robusto
Size: 5" X 50
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Price Paid: $4.50
Drink: Coffee
Smoke Time: ~45 minutes (I hit this hard)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of pictures of this cigar. I wasn't planning to review it when I started but due to being extremely impressed I decided to go ahead and review. Just one snap 1/2 way through on my camera phone - sorry, please don't hurt me... The pic looks a little washed out, it was definitely a deeper brown.

APPEARANCE:
This was an attractive cigar, dark chocolate brown and a mostly-smooth wrapper that was slightly oily - almost silky. I like the band on this for its simple elegance, it doesn't yell at you when in enters the party.

CONSTRUCTION:
Initial construction looks good, no wrapper flaws, only a couple of small veins. Nice and solid.

START YOUR ENGINES!
Clipped this with a standard cutter and tested for cold draw - very nice, good flow, I like a generous draw on a cigar and this one seems like it's going to hook me up... Toasted the foot with my JetLite and took in a wonderful aroma of coffee and spices.

AND THEY'RE OFF!
Time to light this baby up! Puff-puff, turn, puff-puff, turn... Ahhh, very nice from the start, the draw on this is definitely turbo-charged! Lot's of soft and billowy smoke here.

ENTERING TURN 1:
I'm loving this cigar. What is that I taste? Cinnamon and nutmeg? Definitely spicy and a little sweet - like apple pie minus the apples, you know what I mean? The burn is great, mostly even with just a little tilt.

ON THE HOMESTRETCH:
This one stays the course for the whole race, flavors stayed delicious throughout the cigar. Burn was very nice and consistent, no touch-ups required.

THE CHECKERED FLAG!!!
The 2000 and I crossed the finish line in a blaze of glory, those behind us saw nothing but smoke! She started to overheat on me a bit at the end, but that's expected when you’re driving the whole race with the pedal to the metal. I didn't want the trip to stop on this one, a true nubber!

RACE HIGHLIGHTS:
Nicely constructed
Affordable luxury
Flavor is outstanding
Good draw
Heated up towards the end, mostly from me hitting it hard

I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a great and affordable smoke. One of my favorites so far - I'll definitely be back to drive this one again!

Thanks for the detailed review and I think you hit all the good points on this stick. Had one of these myself this morning. Great draw, flavor, and I really didn't want it to end. But...

Re: Padron 2000 Maduro Review

Those are great, inexpensive sticks. I love the draw. I haven't had anything better for the money, although many of the Oliva's are almost as good.

Thanks for the review.
