Thumbs up Pedromo Lot 23 Review

This afternoon on my way back to my office after having a very important meeting.....At the liquor store...I picked up 3 Pedromo Lot 23's Robusto's.

So I enjoyed one on the drive back. Sorry guys, no pictures on this one.

5X50
Wrapper-Ecuadorian Conneticut Shade
Binder-Nicaraguan
Filler-Nicaraguan

Construction-Wrapper is very beautiful. Looks very much like fine grained tanned leather. Veins are quite small. There is also a wonderful amount of tooth to it as well with a very beautiful oily sheen.

Stick is firm, feels somewhat light in the hand, yet substantial. Interesting paradox IMO.

Cold Draw-This was very interesting. I detected a definite red wine taste to it. It had me quite excited as for what was to come.

First Third/Second Third and Finish-There was a large amount of very aromatic white smoke accompanied by a very nice, slightly loose white ash. Out of the gate there was that Nicaraguan Sweeteness to it. Flavors of Milk Chocolate and raisin, kind of like Cadbury's. There was no definite spice on the pallete, however; there was a wonderful Allspice aroma to the smoke. A very interesting contrast. Second pallete provided a slightly alchoholic taste with notes of Columbian coffee with cream and sugar.

I found the smoke to be not so much creamy as it was silky smooth. The finish I found to be very bright and full of tannins, while remaining quite rich.

There is an interesting level of complexity and depth to this cigar. Overall it is very rich and satisfying IMO. I feel that these characteristics are the result of it being nearly a 9 year old cigar at my time of consumption. The tobacco's selected for this blend was done by Nick Sr. and Jr.

All things being equal this is yet another fine offering of wonderfully aged tobacco from Nicaragua with an interesting father and son team effort. Price point of about $7USD, a guy can't hardly go wrong with a few in the humidor for times when a medium bodied smooth, satisfying and relaxed experience is required.

Thanks for your time guys!

Nice review, although the wrappers aren't Ecuadorian. They're Nicaraguan puros composed of leaves from the same field. But this is one of my go to smokes. I prefer the natural belicoso and robusto/toro maduros. And for the price they can't be beat

The Connecticut wrappers are Ecuadorian. Filler & binders are Nic.

Lot 23 is a great smoke in both the Natural AND Maduro. Very well priced.

From the Perdomo website-

PERDOMO LOT 23® is a medium to full flavored blend that offers a well-balanced, complex smoking experience. The dark Ecuadorian Connecticut-shade wrapper lends not only a stunning aesthetic appeal, but it adds an elegant creaminess which complements the robust Nicaraguan fillers.

Thanks!

Re: Pedromo Lot 23

The maduro in the Perdomo² Limited Edition as well as the 10th Anniversary is even better. The "cold draw" gives you the hint that you're gonna love this smoke.

I really like the lot23 too. I haven't had one since the summer, but I remember it to be a really nice afternoon cigar; not simple, but not overly demanding either. I will have to revisit soon.

Re: Pedromo Lot 23

Had one of these about a year or so ago. I wasn't really impressed enough to buy anymore.

Excellent review. I'll have to give them another shot sometime.

Re: Pedromo Lot 23

I tried one of these today and was very impressed with it. I have tried a Perdomo Habano Corojo and enjoyed it, but this one just hit me right today. It had just a touch of spice, good flavors and at the last 1/3rd I got a sort of menthol feeling on my upper lip. It wasn't a bad taste or bad thing, just made my lip tingly like if you ate a menthol for your throat? Not sure if I'm describing it right, but I hated to put it out when I ended my trip, although it was 1 1/2 hours into it and it was done for all intensive purposes. I will definately go back to it again and enjoy another one.

I also picked up one today when I asked about a daily smoker. Cost me around $3.50 for it... Hope it's a good one.

I like the Lot 23 Maduro quite a bit. I haven't tried the Natural yet, but I have one resting in the humi.
