A Bad Padron 2000???

I didn't think it was possible, but last night I sat down with what looked like a beautiful Padron 2000 that had been in my humidor for 6-7 months. The first thing I noticed was a huge stem poking me in the teeth. I managed to pull it out - and continued on. After about 10 minutes, it started unraveling on me, but I licked it down and attempted to continue again, only to find that it had gone out on me. I re-lit only to have to go out on me 5 more times throughout the evening.

I'm Very Dissapointed.

Of course that won't stop me from smoking more - let's hope it was just a fluke.

I gotta believe it was a fluke. I have had too many of these cigars to believe that they could be anything but good.

I smoke a lot of 2000's. That is not normal.

I've never smoked a 2000 (but plan to). I have however smoked quite a few 3000's and 4000's and have never had a problem. Until I discovered the 1964's and 1926's, they were the best stogies I've smoked.

Flukes and things are, IMO, an interesting aspect to Hand Made Cigars.

1) They are handmade.
2) How often does one really get a poorly made cigar from these premium brands?

My experience has been not very often. I think it says' alot about the quality control programs at these factories as well as the level of skill of the Torcedors.

Your poor cigar must have been a fluke. I just finished a very pleasant 2000.

The past 2 Padrons I had did the exact same thing to me... Was very disappointed to say the least.

Have you been into CigarTsar90 stash? Try another one from a different place,,,this is not typical of any Padron.

Re: A Bad Padron 2000???

I am going to pick up a couple more from a different B&M today. I pray that the 64 and 26 series I bought from there are not like the last couple. One thing for a cheap stick to be bad, but it is a total let down when you thrown some coin at a bad stick.

Re: A Bad Padron 2000???

I suppose this can happen with any brand of cigar. I've smoked a lot of Padrons, 2000s and 3000s in particular, and have found them to be possibly the best smoking cigars out there. Not necessarily a beautiful cigar appearance wise, but almost always a nice, easy draw and rarely require a touch-up or relight.

Based on my experience, I'd say what happened in your case was a fluke.

Tell you the truth, I've had that same problem before. Leaf stems cut my gums sometimes if I use my palio to cut them.

Re: A Bad Padron 2000???

You can find "horror" stories with any cigar brand, no biggie. I must say, this thread would have a lot more responses if your gripe had been with Drew Esates, given the general dislike for that brand here .
