Puros Indios Especial # 1-The worst I've ever smoked??

I eagerly lit my Puros Indios Especial #1, the first time I've tried this line of cigars at all. This may not make me popular, but I must say, this is the worst tasting cigar I have ever had. It was beautifully rolled, and very smoky. However, upon lighting, I received this odd taste that hit me in the middle of my tongue. I thought the taste might go away, so I kep smoking. The taste only became stronger. I'm not sure how to describe it, except for maybe very grassy. Like I ate a big bunch of wet grass. I smoked it a while longer and then, put it out, unable to shake this taste..I went and bought a cheap cigar after eating, but the taste immediately returned. Several hours later i relit the Puro, and was hit immediately with that taste. I threw it out. Many hours later, I smoked an Onyx Reserve, and the taste returned again, but much fainter. Anyways, I have never had less pleasure from a cigar than this one.

I have two in my humi and am looking foward to trying them because I really like thier standard line a lot right up there with many premiums. Maybe it was something you ate or drank too?? One thing is for sure though taste varies from one to another.

Sorry to hear of the bad experience!

I had a couple of the PI Maduro Petit Perlas... Enjoyed those little coronas so much that I scored another fiver last night!

I have found that the only Rolando Reyes cigars I can tolerate is the Reserva Maxima line. Taste is very subjective and his and mine just don't get along together.

With that being said, He does make a fine cigar. However, his quality goes up and down at times.

You may find that smokes made by the Torano family will fit your pallet much better.

PI is one of the only lines that I have completely written off. I will never try another. I have them from my humidor..

The cigar had a neat grassy/barnyard type aroma to it before lighting, not unpleasant to me. I noticed a funny flavor upon lighting too. It struck me to be canned greenbeans with sauteed bacon. Smoked another a few days later, first few puffs, yep, green beans and bacon. weird. The flavor turned into something else past the first few puffs, but I enjoyed the cigar. Used the search to see if anyone noticed a funny flavor upon lighting, thought I would throw in my 2 cents...

I think only Te Amo gets more polarized like/hate responces than Puros Indios.

I like them but have to be in the mood for one, not a cigar I can smoke more often than once a month or so. I really enjoy Hefeweisen or similar wheat beers with Puros Indios.

I agree with The Torano line. I have yet to have a bad cigar from torano. They Are awesome. Look at the casa toranos they are great as well as the exodous line and the 1916s

Sorry about your bad experience, 10 years ago Puros Indios cigars were good.
