re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review
It almost looks like that Ashton got too much humidity, swelled up, and broke the wrapper. I've also noticed that moving a stick between temp extremes can do that.
BTW, that Chisel.....aye carumba. Too much strength not enough flavor for me. And I like strong cigars (the Camacho corojo being one of them). |

re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review
Thanks for the tips.
As for the too much humidity argument, that could be what happened. I had one identical one that was purchased at the same time, I noted when I smoked it two weeks ago that it was wet as hell (kept going out, burned unevenly, etc.) I'm gonna smoke right now, got a hankerin to try the nub. Probably will save the box pressed one, smoke the regular one first. |

re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review
Had a rather large (well, effin huge to be exact) Camacho coyolar this weekend. Good cigar, but I think I like the coyolar puro a bit better. It's a fair bit richer and darker, but still very smooth.

Jack Straw:
I am a little confused. The Camacho Coyolar and Coyolar Puro are the same cigars, are U talking about different sizes? Jorge

re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review
Well looking at pictures online, I seem to be confused - the cigar I'm referring to as "coyolar puro" is the one with the standard size camacho label, black background with gold piping. I had it in a smaller size (all I can find).
The one I'm referring to as "coyolar" has the same label, but it is unfinished (the puro is glossy), and has plain white piping rather than grey. It was huge in size, with a torpedo end. Shorter than a churchill but fatter. The reason I'm calling it "coyolar" is that it actually said coyolar on the label to one side of the camacho logo. It is a little lighter in color than the puro, put still full flavor. It's a bit nuttier, almost like a Padron x000. But this only comes in towards the end. EDIT - this is the second one I'm talking about: http://www.************.com/2006/08/23/camacho-coyolar/ same size and everying. |

re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review
The camacho coyolar is one of my favorite, I lvoe the flavor and the ease of the draw is great.

re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review
I believe they are the same cigars and same blends. The one with the white letters and plain looking band is the old coyolar band and box packaging. It was the first Camacho I ever tried as well. When I decided to order my first box of Coyolars, I was also surprised to see the box and cigars looked different than the one I had purchased at my local B & M. It might be a product of my imagination but the original one I tried from the B&M had more of a colorado hue to the wrapper. Having said that it is not unusual for the same wrapper to look slightly different from box to box.
The last issue of Cigar magazine has an interesting article about the Eiroa family and the Camacho brand where they discuss their new revamped labeling and packaging. According to Christian Eiroa, the tobacco for this puro comes from a rather isolated patch in their Coyolar farm. For some reason, this patch is the only one that produces the unique filler, binder and wrapper utilized in this cigar. I have tried the Camacho corojo (excellent), the Havana (good), the 1968 and the Camacho Select. Have not tried the SLR or the triple maduro, they are both on my "to smoke" list. Jorge

re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review
Thanks for clarifying. I have been looking forward to trying the other Camachos as well, I just ordered a sampler today in fact! Can't wait...
One thing I did notice as very similar between the two despite the size difference (rothschild vs. thick torpedo), was the consistency of the loose draw between the two. Are the other Camachos like this, or do they just do it to this blend to accentuate it's characteristics? I started off the torpedo cut a little too far on the thin side of the taper, and it drawed slower, and as it became clogged with resin I chopped off a little more and noted that the cigar tasted significantly better with a more free draw. |

re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review
Good point. The Eiroas take pride on having a perfect draw in every single stick coming out of their factories. They dare anybody to find one with a tight draw. I agree with you, sometimes the draw on the torpedos is a little on the looser side of things. That obviously makes them smoke too hot and affects the entire experience.

The camacho select? It's like a <$6 smoke, isn't it? I wasn't that big a fan of it though.
